Description

Fixed an issue in Casino Battle Royale where the indicator would show color before the AI rings in. A new mode is set to be added to the game soon, namely Stadium Stampede; a 30 person Battle Royale mode. Fixed an issue where the gloves of gold attire “Penta El Zero M” would turn white during the gloveremoval taunt. A nice addition but not one that is likely to take up much of your time. Putting It All On (The) Line For years now WWE have dominated the wrestling gaming market, with only the Fire Pro series putting out a mainstream offering to rival them in the last decade or more. In fact, not since TNA Impact in 2008 has a rival promotion launched a console game, and the less said about that the better given its pallid reception. But then in November of 2020 All Elite Wrestling announced they would be dipping their toes into the market, and just two and a half short years later we got AEW: Fight Forever.

Modified to prevent Andrade El Idolo from jumping over the ropes when entering the ring from the apron.

Overview

What is here is OK, but it does feel a little bit… sparse, and the absence of a belt creator in 2023 is unforgivable. This is your meat and potatoes when it comes to any wrestling game; the Career Mode. Or at least the closest approximation Fight Forever offers. Fixed an issue where, when Irish Whip was aimed at the guardrail, it would hit a steel pole along the way. Fixed an issue where a wrestler would attempt to climb the ladder from the position of the opponentwho was already on the ladder. Fixed an issue where running counter’s reach was being triggered when the opponent had finishedrunning.

Generally speaking, various parts of Fight Forever feel a bit rushed. Most notably, the game features the first version of the AEW Women’s Championship, which has seen two new iterations since 2021. Not updating the assets seems like a result of tight deadlines, or, again, just overlooked opportunities to capitalize at launch. Loading screens pop up highlighting wrestlers with a quote, but the quote is usually a throwaway line from a years-old match. You also won’t find most of AEW’s licensed theme songs in the game. Fixed an issue where the wrestlers would not turn around to face the target outside of the ring afterentering the ring. Although other titles may have taken this to the extreme, none encapsulated this fun arcade style more than WWF No Mercy for the N64, which many STILL claim to be the best wrestling game ever, over 20 years after it came out. Fixed an issue where the number of tag match wins per wrestler was not being displayed correctly inentrance and victory scenes.

a b Clarke, Justin (June 28, 2023). "AEW: Fight Forever Review: All About the Boom". Slant Magazine. What it DID have, was a great control scheme, fun gameplay, a stellar roster of wrestlers and an engaging career mode. …But Does it Feel Right?
