About this deal

Overall, when it comes to looks, the Amazfit Cheetah Pro looks more like a serious smartwatch while the Google Pixel Watch is a smartwatch disguised as a fashionable wristwatch. Amazfit Cheetah Pro vs. Google Pixel Watch: The specs The Cheetah Pro can perform as a smartwatch and has the kind of things you’d expect to find on a smartwatch.

And then when it came to openwater swimming, it wasn’t even close. The Amazfit struggled very heavily here, adding hundreds of meters of distance, and the look of a drunk swimmer (the red line):The Amazfit Cheetah Pro does focus mostly on runners, so if you like what it has to offer but aren’t really into running, you can consider the Amazfit Cheetah Round instead. It’s an almost identical watch but for some steps down in design and without the built-in speaker, and it’s a bit more affordable. You still get the ultra-precise GPS and running features with that model. But again, the data here is all very easily understandable and clean – and I don’t really have any complaints in terms of the app and normal 24×7 type metrics (or even viewing workouts after the fact).

Both smartwatches provide long battery life, ensuring that you won’t be interrupted during your workouts or daily routines. RELATED: The Best Triathlon Smartwatches of 2023, Reviewed Section divider Amazfit Cheetah Pro Review: The Basics It was a similar story during a 5K race where average and maximum heart rate readings were well off the readings of a chest strap. Things did get better for steady-paced runs, so you can get some good data here and there. If you care about continuously monitoring heart rate for more general well-being insights, the Cheetah Pro is much better equipped to do that. We wore it alongside a Garmin watch, which delivers very reliable continuous heart rate readings, and even during sleep, the data felt a lot more reliable in comparison. GPS accuracyPersonally, I look like Futurama's Fry narrowing his eyes in suspicion any time a company tries to incorporate "AI" into their workflow. But the concept really isn't that different from the Garmin algorithm that goes into calculating your VO2 Max and other data, based on your GPS and heart rate data. The question is, can you trust Zepp Coach as much as more well-known brands? Amazfit relies on its own Zepp OS to run the software show on the Cheetah Pro and we’re up to version 2.0 now. Battery life is an essential aspect of any smartwatch, and both the Amazfit Cheetah Pro and Amazfit Cheetah (Round) excel in this regard. The Amazfit Cheeta Pro, on paper, represents an incredible value for a GPS smartwatch focused on athletics. After all, it’s got a brilliant display, reasonably good battery life, plenty of sport modes, and mostly good heart rate accuracy. Plus, it even does training load and recovery and has maps. And yes, when all those pieces work, it works well. Around the outer edge is that red burning sensation, that’s actually the current seconds, it slowly rotates around the bezel like a slow-moving forest fire. In the middle-upper portion of your screen is the most recent activity, except when it’s not. It seems to be the most recent run – as it ignored my swims. Next to that is 24HR illuminated, whereas lower down you’ll see 12HR not illuminated. This is to help you remember how many hours are in the day, and which mode it’s currently in. I have no idea why this would need to be on the watch face, but then again, we’ve long since passed that point here.

Finally, smaller things like no running with power (though it does have somewhat advanced running metrics like stride length and cadence), a very limited on-watch post-workout data screen (typically forcing you to use the Zepp app, which is actually very good), and intermittent issues with smartphone connectivity might not be make-or-break for the Cheetah Pro, but it does show that Amazfit isn’t 100% there when it comes to their sport-focused devices. Section divider Conclusions It’s a nice weight too, coming in at just 34g without the strap and 43g with it. The strap is a perfectly comfortable nylon one that, while isn’t the best in class nylon strap I’ve used, hasn’t caused any sort of irritation during runs and can also be easily removed.I just miss how Garmin makes your fitness data much more readily available. You're not just blindly following its AI-suggested workouts; you can go into your Training Status widget and see if your Load Focus is properly balanced or is deficient in certain areas, which determines where you should focus next. This product and the Zepp App are not medical devices and cannot be used for medical purposes, or as basis for diagnosis of any medical condition. Detection results are provided for reference only. Please consult professional medical institutions if you feel unwell. The radio waves generated by the equipment may affect the normal operation of implanted medical equipment or personal medical equipment, such as pacemakers and hearing aids. If you use these devices, please consult their manufacturers for restrictions on using this device. Battery life is a creditable 26 hours with full dual-frequency accuracy increasing to 44 hours with an intelligent precision mode which only enables dual frequency when needed, and up to a further 54 hours in battery saving GPS mode. In terms of training features, you can create workouts that can be synced to the watch and then there are more advanced features like Zepp Coach and the AI-powered Zepp Coach Chat.
