About this deal

The DuoClean floorhead is an excellent tool that’s great at cleaning pretty much any type of floor. Yes, the felt and foam filters can be removed and washed. Shark recommends washing these every three months, but we recommend cleaning filters more frequently than this. Comparison With Other Vacuums Shark AZ950UKT vs Shark AZ910UKT You also get the new anti-hair wrap technology with this model, which is something I have already detailed in the carpet cleaning section of this review. It’s clever technology because while you have the guards protecting the brush from hair getting tangled, the bristles are still able to work effectively to clean carpets and get them looking incredible. So, if you have floorboards with crevices or tiles, then the Shark AZ950UKT could be a great choice. It’s not so effective on laminate or vinyl floors though. Stairs

The AZ950UKT sports both powered lift away and DuoClean technology. The latter of which is something that only the NV601UKT and NV681UKT are missing. The overall design of this model is pretty much the same as the rest of the upright Shark vacuum cleaners. This is not a bad thing because it’s a very sleek and compact design that makes storage simple and is also easy to move around. Tonnes of power, quiet operation and the clever Lift-Away mode make this the ultimate large vacuum cleaner. Plus, DuoClean is still active so that you can really make the most out of each cleaning session. The fact that the main body is so much lighter really helps with the handling.

The filtration system for the AZ950UKT is much the same as the rest of the Shark upright range. The HEPA filter remains by the motor, helping to muffle some of the sound, and also perfectly placed to protect it from dust and debris. This should be washed annually, but we recommend doing it every six months. Pet hair performance was excellent, too, with the Shark PZ1000UKT able to easily remove all of the hair in a single pass. The AZ950UKT has a warranty that will last for five years. This is quite nice because the industry-standard only tends to last for one year. The warranty covers malfunctions and breakdowns, as well as the cost of parts and labour when you send it in for repair. You just need to remember to register your Shark vacuum cleaner online. Should I Buy the Shark AZ950UK/T? There’s a second bright LED light on the handle, which is another bonus on the stairs for highlighting dirt in dark corners. Pet Hair With the bin removed, you can see one of the washable filters, with a second HEPA filter located at the front of the vacuum. This, too, is easy to remove and clean.

The main floorhead is effective at removing all types of hair, and so is the turbo pet tool. The upholstery tool also works well for removing pet hair from the sofa if you don’t want to use the other attachment. So, what exactly is the difference between theAZ950UK and AZ950UKT? The nice thing about Shark vacuums cleaners is that I can say there isn’t much difference at all. It really does help you to see any dust or dirt that has been left behind, especially in dark places like under the sofa. In addition to this, there is also onboard storage for any accessories that you want to take along with you when you clean. Our Weight Test Results With its XL features, the Shark AZ950UKT is more of a niche vacuum cleaner than many of Shark’s other vacs. The bin itself detaches from the vacuum’s main body, flipping open at both ends for easy emptying and cleaning. The only complaint we have about the DuoClean is that it could be easier to access the bristle brush roll. Other than that, it’s an excellent floorhead. Other Tools and Accessories

What the powered part refers to is the fact that you can still use the main floorhead as normal because power will continue to be supplied to it. Ultimate cleaning power. This test is really simple and involves a decibel meter. This is placed three metres away from the floorhead of the vacuum cleaner. The machine is then switched on, and the sound is recorded. You can see the results in the table below. Noise ( Decibals) This function is also great for floor-to-ceiling cleaning when you add the wand or tool. And, as this is a “Powered” Lift-Away model, the motorised floorheads still work in this mode. The difference in a machine that does not have full sealing is that the air is pushed through any gap in the machine – leaving the air dirty. Our Filtration Test ResultsUnbox the Shark AZ950UKT and the first thing that you’ll notice is that this is one big vacuum cleaner (1175 x 305 x 280mm), weighing in at 7.5kg. Don’t let any of this put you off, as there are plenty of advantages to the size of this vacuum cleaner, plus it has some special features that make it feel and handle like a much smaller unit. Of course, you also have the powered lift away. This means that the main body of the vacuum cleaner can be detached from the frame at the press of a button – essentially turning it into a handheld vacuum cleaner. Yes, the AZ950UKT includes Shark’s Anti-Hair Wrap technology. This is effectively a comb inside the floorhead, which removes hair so the strands end up in the dust cup rather than caught around the brush roll. What Is the Motor Power Of The AZ950UKT? Firstly, there’s the model number. You will notice that one ends in UK and the other UKT. The T actually stands for True Pet, and this indicates that it comes with a dedicated pet tool to help get rid of fur and fluff in the home. Pet Power Brush. This particular tool only comes with the UKT model. It is not motorised, but it is still great at collecting hair and fluff from around the home. It’s small and efficient, and you can read about how handy we found it to be.

Finally, I combed some pet hair into my carpet. Again, a single sweep through the mess pulled out all of the hair and cleaned the carpet up nicely. The powerful suction of the Shark AZ950UKT leads to decent (but not outstanding) cleaning performance. But before we get to the performance on various surfaces, let’s discuss the surface modes. If you’ve got a big house and need plenty of vacuuming capability, the Shark AZ950UKT could well be the model for you. This over-sized vacuum cleaner makes short work of dirt, with its large floor head meaning that you can spend less time doing one area. The power switch and surface setting buttons are all on the handle, making them easy to reach. Shark has also done a great job at making the various settings and configurations intuitive to use. We do wish it had an adjustable handle though, particularly as it’s an XL upright vacuum. Lift-Away mode also makes it easier to get the tools where you want them. You can use accessories on the end of the wand, which provides far greater reach: I could easily clean around the ceiling in this mode. You can also remove the wand entirely, which is ideal for close-up jobs. What this should show you is that the filtration system really is doing its job, and you can see how effective it is as collecting dust and allergens. Carpet test: The wide floor head and powerful suction make light work of dirt in any type of carpet. The only time you’re likely to hit an issue is when you want to get under a dining chair, for example, since the large bin gets in the way. That’s where Lift-Away mode comes in: you can remove the entire cylinder and bin and hold it in your hand while cleaning. This lets you use the floor head and get it right under furniture. It’s one of the only flaws with this vacuum cleaner range, and something that Shark needs to get fixed. Our Noise Test Results
