Description

The tone of this series was pretty dark, but I liked that Snyder was still able to insert a bit of humor to it.

Collects: Future State: Dark Detective #1-4; Future State: Catwoman #1-2; Future State: Harley Quinn #1-2; Future State: Robin Eternal #1-2; Future State: Batman/Superman #1-2 Thinking he's free, James hails his triumph, but is shot in the leg by his father. James pleads with his father to wait, but Jim only says "no" and shoots his son in the other leg. James tumbles off the edge of the bridge, but Jim catches him, promising his son that he's not letting go this time. Jim Gordon hunts down a man named Roy Blount he believes to be the Peter Pan Killer, a child murderer he chased in his early days. Still dealing with his son's return, he remembers the day James Jr. was accused of murdering a girl named Bess Keller. Bess had been one of Barbara's friends, and she disappeared in the woods while they were on vacation. Barbara claims to have seen James Jr. carrying Bess' keychain but this was never proven. When Gordon finally takes down Blount, Blount implies that he murdered Keller in an act of revenge. Batman appears to take care of the criminal, and confirms that James Jr. was also not responsible for the birds being released. [5] Hungry City Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that all these things didn't put me off in the slightest because there was always enough information to keep newbies like me filled in just enough. With the world become smaller due to the accessibility of news 24 hours a day you become desensitized from the awful truth outside in the world, which is perhaps the bane of our times to many people lose their crutches to remain standing and are in search of the truth, which is perhaps why these days there is more than one truth.Collects: Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #117, Batman: Shadow of the Bat #85, Batman #565, Detective Comics #732, Batman Chronicles #16, Batman: Legends of the the Dark Knight #118, Batman: Shadow of the Bat #86, Detective Comics #733, Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight #119, and Batman: Shadow of the Bat #87 As I said, reading this, it's unclear why DC thought their universe and their comics line was so messed-up that it needed rebooting to save it, but, at the same time, it's clear why they wanted to keep Snyder around the Bat World. Collects: Batman #232, 235, 240, 242, 243, 244, Detective Comics #411, 485, 489, 490, and DC Special Series Volume 2 #15.

Not Me This Time: Barbara Kean is infected with Joker toxin shortly after said villain has escaped from prison. When Batman confronts the Joker, the latter begins incessantly repeating " wasn't me!" He is not lying. The real culprit is James Jr, who got his hands on the toxin by purchasing it during one of the Dealer's auctions. Don’t be fooled by the name: Robin is nowhere to be found. Misnomer aside, though, this is probably the strongest arc of what was quietly one of the best runs on Batman ever.
