About this deal

Chanelle Hayes showcases her impressive 9st weight loss in a yellow bikini as she soaks up the sun in Spain It's an intriguing, informative read which I found fascinating, but please be aware of the trigger warnings as there are some sensitive subjects dealt with. The cases cover suicides, & violent murders including infanticide - it's certainly not an easy read. I give this book full marks though as I think the author does such a good job of drawing the reader straight into the cases, by setting the scene & introducing those involved, & explaining the justice system of the time. 5 stars Lewis Hamilton showcases his quirky sense of style yet again in orange and brown tie-dye all-in-one ahead of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix I'm A Celeb's Tony Bellew and Nigel Farage leave viewers 'heaving' as they are forced to drink blended penises during gruesome trial: 'This is vile!' In thrilling narrative, we follow a fugitive killer through the streets of London, citizen detectives clamouring to help officials close the net. We untangle the mystery of a suspected staged suicide through the newly emerging science of forensic pathology. We see a mother trying to clear her dead daughter's name while other women faced the accusations - sometimes true and sometimes not - of murdering their own children.

I was particularly interested in reading about an early example of attempts at forensic scientist in a case that wasn't exactly how it seemed, as well as the way that a community came together to protect a family who were at risk of losing everything because one of their family members may have taken his own life- a crime that would see their entire estate forfeited to the crown, leaving them potentially destitute- offer insights to how normal people viewed the harsh laws set upon them from those who had no idea what ordinary life entailed. I like to think my time in the police has informed my writing, as many of the things I write about in my book I too have experienced: I've investigated crimes, attended post mortems and scenes of sudden and violent death, arrested and interviewed suspects, examined witnesses and chased down criminals in the street. I hope these experiences in the modern world have given me some insight into early modern tales of crime and investigation. Demi Lovato braves VERY heavy snowfall as she headlines the Top Of The Mountain Opening Concert in AustriaThen, as now, the crimes that aroused particular public outrage were those involving children. The story of Margret Vincent, a Catholic convert in Acton, London, in 1616, who strangled her small sons in the belief that she was saving their souls, now seems a case of tragically misplaced religious fervour and mental illness. Coming off the success of the Scooby Doo appearance, the Addams Family was given its first animated series in 1973. With an art style reminiscent of the original comic strip, the animated series had taken many liberties departing from the 1964 sitcom, including cutting out the iconic theme song, instead opting for an instrumental intro with no finger snapping. Much of the cast of the original sitcom was replaced with an unknown cast of voice actors. It ran on Saturday mornings from 1973-1975.

The most horrendous punishment of all was reserved for treason. Adams describes the process of hanging, drawing and quartering with excruciating precision Executions were public proceedings which promised not only gore, but desperate confessions and the grandest, most righteous human drama. The Addams Family has been gracing print and screen for nearly a century. The quirky gothic family consists of parents Morticia and Gomez, siblings Wednesday and Pugsley, and an ensemble of strange and unusual extended family members. They live in a gothic mansion with Frankenstein’s-monster-esque butler Lurch, and a disembodied hand known as Thing. Their misadventures often involve visits from their eccentric family members and the baffled reactions they invoke from the outside world. April Ludgate from the hit NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation could also be seen as being influenced by Wednesday Addams. Obsessed with all things strange and kitschy, April has morbid fascinations similar to those of Wednesday Addams. She also has Wednesday’s signature dry wit and sarcasm that often carries the humour in the show. April would fit right into the Addams Family ensemble.

This is a readable account of nine true crimes in early modern England in the Tudor period and walks us through all the ins and outs of how murders were committed, solved, punished and commemorated in the period, as well as what we can learn when we look at these crimes today: the way that we treat single mothers, or view suicide- a crime until the 1960s- although we've moved on in lots of ways, there are still things that our early modern ancestors would recognise, I think. Sindercombe had been hired to kill England's Lord Protector, Oliver Cromwell, but he proved an incompetent assassin, botching the job several times before being captured.
