About this deal

Slake gin came about from Dr Thomas Martin-Wells’ passion for botanicals and a desire to share his love of Sussex flavours. When the intrepid forager started out, his mission was two-fold. First, was to create a unique gin bursting with the taste of Sussex, the seasons and the South Downs. His second desire was to inspire others to become lovers of botanicals and foster a deeper connection to where they come from and why it matters. Two true Sussex Gins were born; Slake Sussex Dry Gin and Slake Hedgerow Gin. The gin Susan Stapleton (20 November 2019). "Where Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman Dines". Eater Las Vegas. Gin isn't just from England and the U.S. Distilleries all over the world produce versions that try to capture the character of where they're made. There are three main categories. Distilled gin is produced from a mash of grains in the same way that whiskey might be. Redistilled gin is a neutral grain spirit that has been distilled a second time. And compound gin is a neutral grain spirit that’s been infused with flavors (this is the least common style). While you can use nearly any botanical you can think of to flavor gin, juniper is the key ingredient. There are two ways to infuse the botanical flavors into gin—either by macerating them in the spirit, or suspending them in what is essentially a large tea bag above the spirit and infusing the gin with vapors. Then there are a few different styles of gin to consider.

Bacardi also markets Bombay Original London Dry Gin (or Bombay Original Dry). Eight botanical ingredients are used in the production of the Original Dry variety, as opposed to the ten in Bombay Sapphire. Wine Enthusiast preferred it to Bombay Sapphire. [11] Fill the glass halfway with ice, then salt the rim. Stir all of the ingredients in a mixing shaker with ice and pour into the margarita glass, being careful of the salt rim. Electric Blue Margarita New Western Gin: This is really a catch-all term for newer gins that don’t fit into the previous categories. But the through line is that these gins, while still using juniper as a key ingredient, are flavored with a wide range of botanicals, and often use ones that are grown locally to showcase the flavors of where they are made. The brand started a series of design collaborations. Their first step into the design world was a series of advertisements featuring work from currently popular designers. Their works, varying from martini glasses to tiles and cloth patterns, are labelled as "Inspired by Bombay Sapphire". The campaign featured designers such as Marcel Wanders, Yves Behar, Karim Rashid, Ulla Darni, and Dror Benshetrit and performance artist Jurgen Hahn.

Not only are their tonics a superior quality, but Folkington’s upholds a strong environmental and social ethos. Last year, they reduced their CO2 emissions by 33% and offset the remaining emissions by 110%. They invested in carefully selected projects both in the UK and around the world. These include the World Land Trust who protect threatened areas of rainforest and the Woodland Trusts’ native tree planting scheme in the UK. Folkington’s also support many local charities.

The Chemist is altogether more masculine. A smooth, complex gin balanced with layers of flavour. Sweet orange and lemon zest are complemented by natural liquorice root, juniper, coriander, orris root, angelica root, gorse and chamomile. Old Tom Gin: There are no set guidelines for this style of gin, but it is sometimes sweetened with a bit of sugar or other botanicals, licorice is occasionally added, and it can be barrel aged (which is another style of gin in and of itself). Current examples of Old Tom gin come from Barr Hill in Vermont, Ransom in Oregon, and Hibrimi in Iceland. American YouTuber/streamer Etika was known for drinking Bombay Sapphire, among other alcoholic drinks, during streams as a way to celebrate donations. [18] Martin Miller's is a modern take on traditional gin. It has that wonderful juniper dominance of a London dry and it is perfectly balanced, crisp, clean and simply an extravagant gin.But there’s more to Madame Jennifer than its excellent gin. The distillery also produces Bubble-Plate Vodka, Cold-Pressed Coffee Liqueur, Limoncello, sloe gin and a seasonal Christmas gin. To serve Seven Sisters Gin is anything but shy. It slaps you in the face with a fabulous floral explosion as you pour it into your glass. It’s excellent drunk neat over ice. If that’s a little too wild for you, tame it with tonic and you’ll have an incredibly satisfying drink. It’s a real gin lover’s gin!

The distillery name, Madame Jennifer, is an Anglicised play on Jenever, the Dutch name for juniper. Gin is the drink they came to name after it. The distillery produces three gins. The Biologist and The Chemist, both named to reflect the founders’ previous careers, and Gin of Paradise. The Biologist gin is Inger’s creation and Ian is responsible for The Chemist. It seems there’s a little rivalry going on between the two with each determined to make the most popular gin. The gins The Chemistmakes a mean Martini or serve with Valencia Orange tonic, and garnish with blood orange and lemon.Aviation is produced in Portland, Oregon, by House Spirits Distillery. It is distilled from neutral grain spirit with 100 percent rye base, an unusual beginning in the gin market. It's flavored with juniper, anise seed, Elettaria cardamom, coriander, lavender, sweet orange peel, and sarsaparilla. It, too, is slightly overproofed, bottled at 42 percent ABV (84 proof), so it's not as delicate as it's often made out to be.
