How on earth would Ella know that? She's not a scientist. She's a dancer. Daniel never told her that's how it would or wouldn't work. He's *just* dreamed this up. Literally no testing has been done on this at all. There was very little plot aside from the torture and debasement of the entire cast of characters, excluding only our main villain. If there was stellar character development driving the story, I really wouldn’t have an issue with this. However, I feel like I didn’t get to know any of the characters in a meaningful way. Overall, this made the novella feel very one note. The pacing of the book was incredibly swift, I devoured it all in one sitting. It also served as a compelling homage to one of my favorite movies, "Funny Games," which only added to its appeal. i honestly find it very difficult to discuss this book so i'm going to start off positive. the writing in this is absoutely impeccable just like them. mique knows how to write and it shows. there were some slight errors but that doesn't really ever bother me. But outside the clans doesn’t mean she has no ties to them and when a young druid is kidnapped – one among many, she is the one that Lord O’Byrne turns to to investigate.

I think the most interesting twist came when I realized I didn't like the protagonist. At all. When she is a doll, Ella is lovely, but as a human she's selfish and hateful. It isn't often that a book makes me dislike the narrator this much. Kudos to Puxty for making the transition so gradual that I didn't even realize how my feelings had changed until I had nearly reached the end of the book.First I wanna say how honored I feel that I got this arc from the author. Being able to read your work is not something I take lightly. I know how hard it is to put out a book. So thanks! I do review the books I read with 100% honesty.

The plot and the concept of the book were outstanding. It was captivating and got me hooked most of the time. It kept me questioning everything and every character in the book. I was really curious to know the ending and talking about the ending, it was really heartbreaking for me to read. I was a bit angry (can't tell you why) but also satisfied. First I would like to say thank you to Mique for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review. This was a really unusual story about a living doll, Ella, who lives in the attic of the Professor, the man who made her. She wears tutus and spends her days dancing and she’s really pretty happy, but then the Professor makes another doll, a goth doll called Lisa. Lisa is angry and mean and she upsets Ella, who can’t understand where Lisa’s rage is coming from. I do want to note that I wasn’t the biggest fan of the content in this book. The abuse described was mainly directed at a very young minor and it made me exceedingly uncomfortable throughout, which Mique might argue was the point (valid!) but it was not for me (which is also valid!). I’m not grammar/editing police and can usually look past the one off spelling error or grammatical mistake, but I do think that people who are going to publish books, should at least make an attempt at editing or have it looked over by an editor. People provide their editing services for a fair price on fiverr. Lisa runs off and no one give a second thought to the poor kid who's probably going to immediately run into traffic. After all, everyone HATES her for LIVING. How DARE she be what they made her? How DARE she have the NERVE to survive? Probably against her will too, I might add. It's not clear why she was in the hospital to begin with. It could've been the disease (which she "brought upon herself" - second bit of evidence that it's venereal) or it could've been the self harm. In which case, I'd have to believe it was a suicide attempt.

I also felt that withholding information to progress the story was irritating. It isn't a very long story, but the cycles of the Professor refusing to tell Ella about her past, then Ella getting into a bunch of trouble because he won't tell her was exhausting. At some point would the Professor not think that telling her would be better? The only thing that let it down for me was we never got to see all of her gifts, there was a list of all the powers and meanings of them at the end of the book which kind of helped but i would have preferred to have read them in the story. There was a character who, when asked to explain something nonsensical she did, replies, "BECAUSE I'M CRAZY!" -_-* The characters were very well-developed. The writing was remarkable. The author didn't confuse us by overwriting everything about the science and this little different world mentioned in the book. Overall ‘Broken Dolls’ had some positive and negative aspects to it but it was an unbelievably mysterious, and full of thrill with just a hint of satisfaction in the end to it .Lisa is different, in several ways. She is goth, and sarcastic. She also remembers the time before and is determined to return there and bring Ella with her. Ella has never known a life outside of the professor's attic. She loves trees, painting, and, most of all, to dance. Ella is also a doll who, the professor says, was once human. The professor dresses her in a new tutu everyday, and her life, while limited, is happy. Then the professor introduces her to another doll named Lisa. Lisa is not happy. Lisa is quite possibly crazy ad tries to kill Ella. Lisa runs away from the attic and discovers secrets about the professor, secrets that make Ella question everything about her existence. She also begins to wonder if the professor is really a gentle man that wants to help those that are broken, or if he is a mad man that turns girls into dolls for fun. Broken Dolls is a paranormal thriller set in the world of the Telepathic Clans series, but is a standalone story, so you don’t need to have read the Succubus books to understand what’s going on. Bret (the stranger) set me on edge instantly. I knew he had kidnapped Cody (the small boy) from the jump. I also figured he was going to be harmed. The mom Lauren is so stupid. Didn’t ask where the car was and even at one point started thinking of Bret sexually.

Now the hunted doesn't really get a point of view standing barring one chapter, his latest victim Rachel does however, so through her treatment we get a first-hand view of the miscreants mind games and violent inclinations. There were a few things that I found a bit unexpected in this book, but there were others that I felt were a bit harder to follow. This book was quite short, but I think it could have been expanded... and I would have liked to see a lot more details about characters and their relationships to each other. I'm sorry this reminded me of Judith Sonnet's "No One Rides For Free. There's a bag of toys/goodies. The tone is just too similar. The ending felt rushed and almost like an afterthought. Not the main resolution to the plot, but the actual last few paragraphs. It just kind of stopped with nothing interesting to leave me thinking about--very anticlimactic.

Furthermore. What does the negative thoughts thing have to do with the mind allowing the body to heal? Does that get in the way...? Is that what you're getting at...? Because you sure don't explain it and I'm going to just have to assume that's why you said that bit. Also. "Whilst??"
