About this deal

The AG’s frequency response is not similar to any academic target curve, so I’ll skip that analysis. Housing Machined aluminum shells with anodized emerald green outside finish. “Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber™” internal structure

After already asserting that the Holocene is a rerelease or one for the masses of the unique earlier Japan limited edition c/2019 q4. Imaging Beyond spectacular. Image distribution on the stage is perfect at all time both on the periphery and at the center. From my Ara review: There is no denying that the Andromeda is the former king of detail. The precision of which the clarity of sound comes through is a hearing to be well, heard. I can remember from the original that I was “quite impressed” with the level of detail retrieval and clarity wrought from that boxy shaped IEM. It pretty much set the tone for me until much more expensive unit came across my computer. You could certainly do much worse at this price than the Andro, which makes you appreciate its heritage all the more.Only briefly mentioned here as my favorite, the EE LX is my standard for many things. But the treatment up top would be perfect had it the sound from the Andromeda 2020. I love the sound as is, but combine the two in a love child, and it would be my nirvanic listen forever. Enough said. Sennheiser IE 900 uses 7mm dynamic transducer technology with specially designed resonator chambers, which enhance the level detail. In contrast, the Andromeda sports 5 balanced armature drivers: 2 low, 1 mid and 2 high. It also boasts a Tuned Acoustic Expansion Chamber, which delivers extended high frequencies while minimizing sibilance and fatigue. With this in mind, let’s take a look at the details first, then we’ll quikly climb up onto the big picture.

Sorry, but it is a rich delicious sound, decent fast full hitting deep bass, and luxurious low/upper mids, highs extending correctly and vocals just above the music (and not overly forward - how i like it). Male and female vocals reproduced properly. The second aspect of the Andromeda is the continuation of the use of an optimized resonator assembly we first saw in the Jupiter which CA believes is a clear upgrade on a traditional tube and dampener system that you find in other IEMs. Both IEMs are an exceptionally pleasurable listen. And while the IE 900 is the more skilled IEM in terms of detail, the Andromeda shows off more personality. So, if you play a lot of acoustic music or you like to listen analytically, the IE 900 would probably be the way to go. But especially if you listen to more modern genres, you can’t beat the speed, tightness and undeniable charisma of the Andromeda. Still, at the end of the day, both of these IEMs are a trip into sonic bliss, and the choice may ultimately come down to price. The unit is very source dependent. It need a very clean source to reach it's full potential. This made this iem a harder to drive iem then the 5ish ohms it's stating.

The core look of the Andromeda has remained the same – a metallic green finish on aluminum shells with Campfire Audio’s signature angular design. While there have been some minor changes to the spout, the screws and other minor details, the exterior design remains consistent and recognizable. The interior, however, has been completely redesigned for the Andromeda 2020. Campfire now uses a solid-body 3d printed acoustic chamber, which provides improvements to both the acoustic properties of the IEMs and their durability. Great choice when you want to reinforce the pros of the Andromeda, but since the top end is recessed in both it can get unexciting in some songs. That’s a choice that can be great, but I advise auditioning before pulling the trigger. But at the end I bought it as other choice didnt possess the detail and technicality as the Holocene. And for literally 2.5 times less money than Andromeda with almost the same signature on the mid and highs. I dont see a better reason to choose something else. i do rate the c/2019 q4 highly, but bow to its older sibling the Andro MW10. They both do what they do very well.

Now, what does all of this mean? The result of this overhaul is a listening experience that has taken an already sublime sound provided by the older Andromeda, and added a new layer of fluidity and finesse in the ‘Emerald Sea’. Bass is as present as ever, this time with an improved roundedness and coherence which allows the mids to sound more effortless than before, especially in the higher end. Overall a fantastic product well worth the attention of anyone wanting a top quality earphone with mid-tier pricing. To complete the experience, the new Andromeda and Solaris models are both shipped in a completely unique presentation box, created individually by the Campfire Audio team in their Portland Oregon workshop. This is something that needs to be seen to be fully appreciated. Campfire Audio again show that they are not afraid to push boundaries, pouring their love and passion for audio and creativity into a brand-new audio experience. Uniquely transporting you to musical bliss in a way that no other earphone can. Hold tight, you're in for a wild ride. The CA logo, in turn, benefits from a more prominent and sharper cut on the smoother faceplate of the Andromeda shell. In short, it stands out a lot more. Bores, Edges, and Screws
