Casio Mens Analogue Watch Edifice EFV-100

I know this is a very subjective review but seriously, after years of agonising over the best Swiss movements, complications, sapphire crystals, solid bracelets, end links and milled clasps, COSC certifications, in house calibres, this has made me realise what is important in a wrist watch, its pulled me out of the rabbit hole of watch obsession: Technical amendments and errors excepted. The sizes in figures do not correspond to the original sizes. Comfort - some of the Swiss automatic divers I owned were positively uncomfortably heavy, I mistook weight for quality and pretended I liked the heft.

So enamored with this watch am I that it now is the only watch I wear and there exists only 1 other in my collection, my dress watch, that I wear maybe 2 or 3 times per year. Die Zeiger gefallen mir ebenfalls sehr gut. Der Stundenzeiger erinnert an einige Klassiker aus der Schweiz, die gelbe Spitze des Sekundenzeigers in Verbindung mit der gelben Schrift (WR 100M) verleiht der Uhr eine Prise Sportlich- und Eigenständigkeit. Praktisch: Wenn man die Krone herauszieht, bleibt der Sekundenzeiger stehen. So kann man die Uhr ganz genau einstellen. Die Stundenindizes sind groß und sorgen für eine sehr gute und schnelle Ablesbarkeit. Leider nicht bei Nacht, denn die Leuchtkraft der fluoreszierenden Zeiger und Indizes lässt bereits nach wenigen Minuten stark nach, und schon bald lassen sich nur noch die Zeiger gerade so erahnen. Da dies den Alltagsgebrauch für mich aber nicht wesentlich einschränkt: Passt schon bei dem Preis.

Model Comparison

Für den aufgerufenen Preis sind Materialien, Tragekomofort und Verarbeitung wirklich top. Natürlich ist die Casio keine Alternative zu Luxusuhren renommierter Schweizer Hersteller, wie das manch "Uhrenexperte" hin und wieder darstellt, aber das will die Casio auch gar nicht sein. Zwar enthalten manche Designdetails gewisse Anspielungen auf Uhrenklassiker mit Krönchen oder altgriechischem "O", aber peinlich oder gar wie ein "Fake" wirkt die Casio dabei auf keinen Fall. Ganz im Gegenteil. Am Handgelenk kommt sie wirklich seriös rüber, und hat durchaus einen eigenen Charakter. Casio weiß, wie man preiswerte Uhren baut, und daher würde diese Marke jederzeit gegenüber irgendwelchen in Fernost gesourcten und online gehypten Pseudo-Marken vorziehen, die bei ähnlicher Qualität gerne das dreifache kosten. That ‘Sapphire’ one is more suited to dressy environments, whilst I think this could probably be dressed up or down more easily to suit different occasions. I really like both watches but this is probably my favourite and the smaller sizing option is the clincher for me.

the bracelet has folded links and hollow end links. However, it totally suits the watch as it makes it so lightweight and comfortable and absolutely does not detract from the look (you can't tell). Perfect for swimming and snorkelling: the watch is water resistant to 10 bar according to ISO 22810. A luminous coating provides long-term illumination in the dark after only a short exposure to light. I stumbled upon a review of the Casio Edifice EFV-110d (the baby brother) by The Slender Wrist and being a fan of the smaller timepiece thought i'd give it a go...well after much excitement ripping open the box, to my dismay was a watch that was just too small for my 7 inch wrists. The combination of sporty looks, thinness, tapering 18mm bracelet and 41mm lug to lug was just didnt look right, and I have happily worn 33mm vintage pieces before. The dial aesthetics are down to your personal preference. Personally, I’d say I prefer that MTS-100L, though not by much, both are very handsome watches. Obviously, that watch also has the sapphire crystal, which will inherently give you better scratch resistance than the mineral found in this watch. However, this watch has a better strap, or bracelet in this case. The case finishing is sharper and better too and the extra water resistance could certainly come in handy if you’re after a do-it all watch.

You can rely on it: the bracelet on this watch has a particularly secure clasp that prevents accidental opening. Die Ganggenauigkeit ist - wie bei einer Quarzuhr zu erwarten - hervorragend. Nach ungefähr zwei Wochen ging sie um ca. 2 Sekunden vor. Accuracy - this watch is more accurate than any COSC certified watch I've owned, it keeps -2 seconds every couple of weeks. A pesar de todo lo anterior, este reloj me tiene enamorado. Desde que lo tengo ya no me pongo otro. Es muy cómodo, de aspecto elegante y sencillo (mucho mejor en directo que en foto). Tiene un tamaño ideal para muñecas de 17 mm. El cierre es muy bueno, y tiene un microajuste que es más que suficiente. La corona es roscada y eso encaja bien con los 100m de resistencia al agua. La legibilidad es muy buena (mi versión es la de dial negro), aunque no tiene luz y el lumen de las manillas es simbólico (no esperes ver la hora a oscuras, aquí este reloj cojea). Por supuesto, es muchísimo más preciso que cualquier reloj mecánico (incluídos todos los que valen un riñón), y sinceramente, por 68 euros me parece un buen negocio. Lo volvería a comprar sin dudarlo.
