About this deal

The dial is a deep gray color and has an amazing sunburst effect, probably the most severe I've seen on any watch so far. If you catch it just right in the light you can see two 'cones' of light reflecting outwards from the centre of the hands, which highlights the slight concentric ring texture of the dial. There's also a white crosshair pattern which breaks up the dial a little bit. I don't think this watch has AR coating, but that may be to its benefit given how much the dial comes to life under light. The crystal is sapphire, which is an improvement over the mineral crystal or Hardlex you might usually find at this price point. Titanium v Steel - I find this SO light it almost feels cheap and nasty! I don't mind a bit of weight and the steel ones are so much cheaper so I may go for steel. Bracelet is flexible with a nice finish given how cheap it is, the sizing mechanism is downright futuristic

Elapsed time, split time and final time are measured with 1/100-sec accuracy. The watch can measure times of up to 1 hour. The Casio Lineage LCW-M510D is a “set-and-forget” solar watch. Set your local time, switch the Daylight Saving Time function to “auto” and that’s it – unless you leave the watch in the dark for two years or, twenty years hence, change the battery. We’ve reviewed some pretty hyped brands on this blog before. From the affordable luxury memes of Filippo Loreti and MVMT, to the nostalgia tripping Q-Timex and increasingly popular Chinese home-brands.

Spressy?

The button tones for using the mode button can be turned off. This means that the watch no longer beeps when switching from one function to another. Preset alarm or countdown timers remain active when the button tones are deactivated.

I’m OCD about a watch’s second hand hitting its marks. Quartz watches at all price points miss by a tiny bit. Some miss by a lot. When I saw the Lineage LCW-M510D dial design online, I knew the hour index extension lines would make any second hand misalignment super-obvious. They’d either be awesome or be a curse. If desired, the key tones can be switched off with the mode button. After switching off, there is no longer a beep when switching from one function to the next. Set alarms or countdown timers are still active after the key doors have been switched off. Whether in Europe, North America and Japan or in the outer reaches of Canada, Central America and China - once the watch has been set to the local time, it receives the relevant signal and shows the correct time wherever you are. In many countries, it also sets itself automatically to summer and winter time. The watches have been workhorse watches for me--the stopwatch function as well several of the other features of both...I use every day. The M170D measures 9.2mm deep and 39.5mm across the case, with a total lug-to-lug distance of 46.4mm. The lug width is 20mm. The case is round with no crown (button) guards or protrusions. These measurements make you think the watch will wear well on any wrist size, but the design of the dial and lugs make the watch wear bigger. More on that later.

 Lume looms large

A luminous coating provides long-term illumination in the dark after only a short exposure to light. This one is for a relative as a gift, but I want one myself now, this gave me a chance to try it out. The only considerations I have now are: I have the WVA640 TD (same module) with a bracelet similar to the 170 but with the adjustment like the 100. What I'm curious about is why so many owners complain about not being able to turn off the power save function - it's a good thing surely, and the watch wakes up instantly when required.

Perhaps they just don't like not having the option, like it's a 'control thing' and the inanimate object is dictating how it should function....IDK, maybe I'm missing something! Functions: Analog Hour / Minute , Digital Hours (12 / 24) / Minutes / Seconds, Day (in 5 languages!) / Date, Stopwatch, Countdown Timer, 5 Alarms, World Time (29 time zones / 27 cities). The slate blue sunburst dial doesn’t call attention to itself, but captures the eye with 3D hour indices projecting inwards from the slightly elevated chapter ring. The Lineage’s sword-shaped lumed hour and minute hands contrast legibly against the dial; the virtually hair thin second hand can get lost in the old razzle dazzle (a.k.a, bright sunlight).Always reliable: This watch has a particularly secure safety catch, which helps prevent the strap from opening by mistake. Monday, monday or lundi The language in which the days of the week are displayed is up to you. This model works multi-lingually. The OP speaks of the 'cheapness' of the bracelets and that's a real pity but these aren't particularly expensive watches and overall they're pretty decent, especially for the features and materials used.

When I started looking into these watches, I ended up buying the M170. It looks classier, the floating indices and crosshair dial make it stand out a bit more in a sea of generic sports watches, and I figured with dimensions like those it would fit perfect on my 7" wrist. However the design and overall look of the watch make it wear bigger than it is...and I wasn't happy with it. I saw the M100 going for a good price and bought it too to compare, and I'm glad I did. You get a 3 year warranty-certificate for your new timepiece. If there is any problem with the mechanism, this certificate garanties a 100 % protection- meaning we take care of the technical integrity inbetween these 3 years. Despite its beauty, remarkably, the dial also houses a solar cell as part of the ‘tough solar’ technology. This is a solar-powered system, akin to Citizen’s ‘eco-drive’, which allows the watch battery to be charged directly from exposure to sunlight. According to the manual, this takes just 8 minutes to fully charge in outdoor sunlight and can hold the power reserve for a minimum of 4 months, even with no further exposure to light. This means battery changes aren’t going to be needed nearly as frequently as with a traditional quartz movement; there are reports of some of these even lasting several decades before failing to hold a charge. A classic semi-dressy ana-digi watch design. Case finish is decently polished but nothing special. Sunburst effect is overdone, distracting from the hands. The time display can be set to 12- or 24-hour format. In 12-hour mode, a p is displayed for the second half of the day, i.e. 12 noon to 11:59 p.m.Invisible solar cells in the watch convert light into energy and supply all functions. A rechargeable battery provides the necessary capacity for operation in poor light conditions. The Lineage’s digital day-of-the-week display offers a choice of five languages: Japanese, Chinese, English, Spanish and German. Natürlich, I set it to English. Aspiring polyglots (and those of us with a penchant for childish humor) should opt for the Japanese kanji characters. The kanji character for Tuesday is a butt with dimples.
