Condescending Compassion: Does this to Naegi when he starts arguing against her narrative of Hagakure killing Ishimaru and Hifumi, telling him that it's okay if he screws up because nobody expects much from him anyways. Danganronpa is a series of Japanese visual novels. The first game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, was first released on November 25th, 2010 while the series’ latest game, Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony, was released on January 12th, 2017. These video games were developed and published by Spike Chunsoft and NIS America. The series can be played on a variety of platforms, including PlayStation 4, mobile devices, and Microsoft Windows. The first game, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, started the series by following an average student named Makoto Naegi that gets the chance to enroll at Hope’s Peak Academy, but finds himself trapped inside the school with fourteen other students and Monokuma, a remote-controlled bear who tells all of them that one of them can “graduate” if they can get away with murdering one of their classmates. In no time at all, a student is murdered and a trial is held. If the killer is caught, they will be executed on the spot. However, if they manage to get away with murder, they will be able to leave the school and the rest of their classmates with be executed. Links We simply have to make the best of things—do our best to get along and live here together in peace. Forget about the outside world, and accept this new life. That is the only hope we have now. Here we have every convenience. We have food, clothes, our every need is seen to. Why are you dissatisfied? In fact, let me ask you this? What is it about the outside world that you long for? Competition, discrimination, victimization and violence... As society grows, so does its perversion. In which case, is our current situation not—" Her apparent willingness to throw out her pride and beg for her life when threatened by Robo Justice seemed intended to invoke this by emphasizing the supposed killer's threat-level. All it really did was tip some players off that she was likely lying (which gets lampshaded in Danganronpa Abridged Thing). While she keeps her anger about under control, Celeste is clearly very upset whenever another student breaks the "Night Time rule" that she proposed to the group, as it just serves to underscore what little control she actually has over the situation she's in.

Narcissist: She shows shades of it, though her seemingly-confirming statements at the end of her trial are difficult to take at face-value based on Makoto's narration that she may have been lying even then (the manga outright confirms this line of thinking - she loves everything about "Celestia Ludenburg", but hates "Taeko Yasuhiro", making her narcissism an elaborate cover for her self-loathing). Interesting... The definition of "interesting" changes from person to person. So the word itself is something of a fraud." Celestia is able to manipulate situations to her advantage by using Robo Justice as an object to convince everyone of Yasuhiro's supposed deceit. It is only during the class trial that the students begin to unravel the truth of Celestia's complicated plan that was successful through a various number of planned intricacies. One thing I love about Myethos boxes is that they never feature images of the figure, which I really like and personally feel that these type of boxes look classier as a result. The two sides of Celestia's box have a single butterfly (similar to the design on her tie) and her spherical-cross earring down each side respectively, both glossy patterns are done very nicely.Ooh, Me Accent's Slipping: In the English dub of the game, the pseudo-French accent slips when she gets emotional. Obviously that was a lie! I couldn't take it! I hated it from day one! More than anyone anyone ANYONE else in here! I wanted to get out! Every day was fresh torture! And do you wanna know why? HUH!? Because...I had a dream. And accepting a life here would have meant nothing less than giving up on my dream forever... And there was no way...that I could ever do that. In the underground world of gambling, I risked my life to make a metaphorical killing. And it was all for that dream... To live in a European castle. And to gather handsome men from all over the world to serve as my butlers-slash-bodyguards. I was going to make them dress up like vampires and satisfy my every need. Once I obtained that, I would have created a perfectly aesthetic world of decadence... Living the rest of my life there was my only dream, my only goal... That's what life is all ABOUT! Combined with my own winnings, Monokuma's ten million dollars would have made that dream a reality. I got right to the edge, but... Unfortunately, my dream has been scattered to the wind. Still, I don't have any regrets. I pursued my dream till the very end, so why would I?" Accent Slip-Up: In the English localization, her affected French accent tends to slip when she's angry. When she admits defeat and that her real name is Taeko Yasuhiro, she drops it entirely. Even Evil Has Loved Ones: As revealed in Ultra Despair Girls, even Celeste had someone she held dear enough for Monokuma to use as a motive: her cat, Grand Bois Chéri, whom she spoiled heavily and even got him to share her favorite food, gyoza. One has to wonder why she valued her cat above any blood relatives she may have had, but given that the only other student who had their pet as their motive was Toko...

Friendship Moment: She has one with Hifumi (albeit one blended with an insult) when she tells him to call her if he reincarnates as a sexy vampire; she will save a room for him in her castle. As an experienced gambler, Celestia appears collected, cold, and cunning by nature. She possesses the ability to manipulate others to do her bidding and can lie with a perfectly straight face, this is shown when she is able to manipulate Hifumi to make her royal milk tea and further be her accomplice during Chapter 3. She is shown to be fairly intelligent, referencing several aspects of game theory such as Prisoner's Dilemma or Zero-Sum Game, and her manipulative and coercion skills are shown in Chapter 3, being able to deceive the majority of the students, including Byakuya up until the class trial. Her intelligence is also shown in previous cases in which she, alongside Kyoko, Byakuya, and Makoto are the ones to bring up crucial points and is also capable of keeping up with Byakuya and Kyoko's train of thought during the trials as well. Face–Heel Turn: In two ways. She is a witness in the first two cases and helps Makoto solve the mysteries of both cases, preventing many from dying from the wrong accusations. Then in the third case, she suddenly decides to become the culprit. In the other way, Celeste was one of the students agreeing with the Hope Peak's Academy program to stay in the school to keep the hope of the world. Due to the mastermind's machinations of tampering with the students' memories, Celeste ends up as someone who's very desperate to get out of the school, forgetting her agreement. Life here would be that much nicer if he could add some new issues once in a while. How disappointing."

Achievements in Ignorance: She took to online gambling to satisfy her desire for a challenge while in school and accidentally bankrupted the hosts. If she hadn't broken our rule, none of this ever would have happened... You get what you deserve, I suppose."The Smart Girl: She references many aspects of game theory, including zero sum games and the prisoner's dilemma , in her speeches. Go Out with a Smile: Before she actually goes to her execution, she calmly bids farewell to the other students. Makoto, however, notices through her smile that's she's internally afraid. The last we see of Celeste's face alive is her smiling as she burns at the stake.

Character Tics: Twirling a strand of her hair around her finger, which is made more obvious in the anime. Also occasionally steepling her fingers with a smile on her face. Gofer Project: Tsumugi Shirogane | Monokuma | Monokuma Kubs ( Monotaro | Monophanie | Monodam | Monosuke | Monokid) | Motherkuma Zig-zagged in the stage version; on the one hand, Celeste doesn't murder anyone (because Kiyotaka was already Driven to Suicide in the second trial) and instead is executed by taking the fall for Sakura's suicide with an implied desire to escape the game through death. On the other hand, it's also implied that her motive of wanting a castle with vampire butlers (implied to be a lie in the game that strictly applies to the "Celestia" character and wasn't ever seriously entertained as a possibility by Taeko) is genuine here and she also gets Hifumi (who was completely innocent here) executed alongside her and shows no remorse for it.I Hate Past Me: To an extreme degree, with the manga showing it to be her primary motivation for adopting the Celestia Ludenburg persona and for wanting to become a renowned gambler and eventual castle-owning multi-millionaire. Everything about Taeko Yasuhiro is plain and powerless and even her ultimate talent is a passive one, so Celestia was created as a means of escapism from all that.
