Suitable for both stoves and open fires, WillowWarm Briquettes are a great size for most small to medium stoves and open fires, so do not need to be broken, which minimises mess and handling. They expand approximately 30% of their length whilst burning.

Lewis Value RUF briquettes are a good general purpose briquette. Made in Nova Scotia, Canada from slow growing Eastern White Pine sawdust, these are great value. Be prepared to break briquettes into smaller sections to fit into your stove comfortably. Many briquettes do expand whilst burning and you don't want them to expand onto the glass. The chart above indicates which briquettes are easy to break. Some are small enough so they don't need breaking. This makes for a cleaner environment around your stove. Used coffee grounds should never go to a landfill: they’re way too useful! From fertilizing your roses to running the engine in your car, spent coffee can be turned into all sorts of useful materials. Former Purdue University associate campus minister Rich Bruins discovered yet another on a trip with students to Guatemala to work with coffee farmers: waste from coffee processing can be pressed into briquettes that function just as well as typical charcoal as a fuel source. Coffee Logs are an unique product, made in England from waste coffee grounds mixed with sawdust from local sawmills. The coffee grounds are collected from cafes, offices, factories, universities etc throughout the UK, repurposing a waste product.Break - We strongly recommend you break these briquettes in half (or less for very small stoves) because they do expand whilst burning and you don't want them to overfill the fire. Beech Nestro are made in Germany from pure beech grindings, which are very fine and so produce a dense, dust-free briquette. The beech sawdust comes from a company producing high-end beech products and structures. These Beech Nestro are quite simply the best briquette we have ever found – probably the best briquette in the world. Two will last up to four hours with excellent heat and flame characteristics. They generate a consistent heat in the stove temperature ‘sweet spot’ so you don’t have to be up and down loading the stove or adjusting the air flow. How to use: Great for both stoves and open fires. For most stoves we recommend breaking them in half, as they will expand a little while burning.

Suitable for both stoves and open fires, Woodlets Briquettes produce great heat with an excellent flame. Woodlets Briquettes are made from mixed softwoods, compressed into dense, chunky heat logs. The sawdust comes from sustainably managed British forests. Burning characteristics: After approximately 50 minutes remove from the freezer, take a sharp knife and work right around the sides of the solid briquette to loosen and then bang the tin on a solid surface so that release from the bread tin. Generating excellent heat with an attractive flame, you can expect an active burn time of up to 1.5 hours from each briquette. The rounded square shape is practical and popular because it stops the heat log from rolling on the fire. Perfect for: Woodlets Briquettes Woodlets Briquettes are 100% natural, premium-grade heat logs from sustainable British sourcesThe main fuel for a day or evening burn and are also great broken up into small pieces and used to light the fire. Ready to Burn is a UK Government certification that means that the heat logs have passed rigorous chemical analyses and meet FSC standards. So you can rest assured that they are safe, sustainable and clean-burning. This Express Bundle is a great way to try all the different types of wood briquette, so you can find out what suits you and your stove best. If you’re struggling to decide, or just want to try something new, this is the bundle for you!

To make additional briquettes simply repeat the process. Once you have enough briquettes place them in your wood burner and light your fire as normal and add briquettes as required. Giving out a steady heat with a nice flame, these are really easy-to-use-briquettes. They burn for around two to three hours depending on airflow and give off good heat for the duration of their burn time. Perfect for: Each briquette weighs around 1.67kg, and is perfect for all stoves and open fires. Generating excellent heat with an attractive flame, you can expect an active burn time of 1.5 – 2 hours. The rounded square shape is practical and popular because it stops the heat log from rolling on the fire. Because they’re easy to break they can be used on all sizes of stove or open fire. BushBlok are produced by the Cheetah Conservation Fund, and are made from hardwood bush encroaching on cheetah habitat in Namibia, the Cheetah capital of the world.

UK RUF are Perfect for: Our briquettes are all additive-free. Coffee Logs are made from untreated used coffee grounds mixed with pure wood sawdust and are held together by compression alone. Coffee Logs burn long and slow under normal airflow conditions – more air will give a gentle flame and good heat. They perform very well mixed with other fuels. Coffee Logs are Perfect for:

STEPS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN COFFEE LOGS

None of our briquettes contain additives or chemicals. Made from pure, untreated wood sawdust, WillowWarm Briquettes are held together by compression alone. That discovery got Bruins thinking and tinkering, and, two years later, he’s got a product on the market: Coffee Coals. Grillers know thatbriquettes are much more reliable for cooking than lump wood charcoal because of their regular size. Briquettes, however, are a pressed-together amalgamation of “… charcoal, coal, starch (as a binder), sawdust, and sodium nitrate (to make it burn better).” Bon Appétit compares them to SPAM… Bruins, in the video above, notes that his product hits the best of both worlds: a briquette that’s pure, clean, organic biomass.
