Eggs – I used medium eggs, but if you have other sizes, weigh them in their shells and then match the other ingredients – get to as close to 400g as possible.

These colourful chair sashes are another great way to decorate your street party. They’re really easy to make, too.

For the cake I decided to stay super basic, and go for a popular sponge base. My school cake sponge is always very popular as it’s a basic sponge, and I add vanilla to it. This is of course optional, you can flavour it any way – but I went vanilla. The celebrations continue into the Monday of the bank holiday weekend when we’ll be encouraged to volunteer in our local areas, as part of The Big Help Out. The aim of this event is to use volunteering to bring communities together, creating a lasting legacy from the Coronation Weekend with a boost of community spirit! Treat your guests with Coronation party favours to remember the celebrations by. Not only do Coronation keepsakes, novelties and miniature party supplies make wonderful decorations and accessories for your event, they are ideal for filling up party bags for your friends, family, neighbours and community members to take home after the Coronation events are over. Could this be the biggest community get together in British history? The Coronation Big Lunch on Sunday 7 th May will brings millions of people together to share food and fun together, with street parties, picnics, barbeques, tea parties taking place across the country.

From Coronation party poppers and King Charles III chocolates to Coronation bubbles and temporary tattoos for your younger guests, there's a royal themed party favour for everyone in our Coronation Decorations collection.

On Sunday 7 th May there will be a Coronation Concert held at Windsor Castle. This special performance will be produced and broadcast live by the BBC for the whole nation to watch. In the same spirit as the concerts held for the Jubilee celebrations of Queen Elizabeth over the course of her reign, this event will bring global music icons and performers from far and wide together in celebration of this momentous historic event. Paint wooden pegs in red, white and blue. Leave to dry then write on ‘Royal Wedding’ with a permanent marker pen. The crowning glory of any party is surely the food! Do your country proud and pile your tables and plates high. Step 4 – Carefully marble this purée through the cream. Spoon out a dollop of your mixture into the middle of your shortbreads, keeping half the biscuits aside. The official recipes for the event have been announced. For anyone with a sweet tooth, the royal recommendation is a recipe for strawberry and ginger trifle – sounds zingy!

This cake is best served fresh on the day because of the fruit and cream, but can last 1-2 days in the fridge if needed! Equally, if you want to keep your decorations simple, we suggest creating your own hand-made coronation decorations such as paper chains, streamers and hanging paper balls. Also, why not take a look at our best coronation recipes for some tasty treats to enjoy over the bank holiday weekend too?

If you wanted a chocolate based cake, use my chocolate school cake as a base sponge. Or you can even jazz it up slightly and use my gin & tonic traybake– or even my chocolate orange traybake cake. Everyone is invited to get involved and celebrate, in a nationwide get together of friendship, food and fun. From a cup of tea with your neighbours to a catered event for the whole community, no meet-up is too big or small, and street parties are encouraged around the country. Step 3 – Blitz the other half of the strawberries in a food processer with the lemon and sugar. Sieve the purée to catch the seeds. Draw and cut out a large diamond from a piece of A4 paper or card. Use this as a template to cut out diamonds from red, white and blue paper tablecloths. Use poster paint to write a message on your bunting, such as ‘Happy Wedding Day'. Leave to dry before using to decorate your street.
