About this deal

If you have the entire wall-to-wall distance to work with in a 12-foot-deep room, you can manage about a 65-inch projection area with Cinemood. It's washed out, and with only a 640x360 real resolution, it's distinctly fuzzy—my mom, who's in her seventies, complained about it and made me fiddle with the focus for quite a while before grudgingly admitting that it was as sharp as it was going to get. On the positive side, the little integrated speaker—which was very tinny and sad in the big meeting room—sounded much better in a small bedroom. In short, if you are a fan of streaming on Netflix, Prime Video and Disney+ you will no longer have to choose your format, it does them all! The assembly is easy, with the only problems coming from attaching the tripod, that comes with the product. These problems are however minor, and the whole process should be completed in under 15 minutes. Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to tell from holding your projector, that it’s going to be very durable. The whole thing is cased in aluminum, which is a common metal used when company’s want to combine low weight, with strength.

Hisense's cube utilizes DLP projection technology combined with a triple laser, TriChroma light source. Its 3 laser diodes without phosphor wheel allow it to produce colors that exceed the Rec.2020 color gamut, a rendering that no other technology currently available is able to match. Especially found on an affordable regular throw home theater projector. HISENSE TriChroma laser Projection Technology Overall, we like the Nebula Capsule II and it's the perfect solution for a pop-up cinema night or even as a bedroom TV for occasional use. It's not cheap, but it's got everything you need. Where the two categories differ is in their shape and in some key features that make the best mini projectors a better fit for home entertainment. Although no particular shape defines a mainstream mini projector, most are towers, like models in the Anker Nebula Capsule series. The extra height makes room for relatively robust audio systems, which deliver higher volume and better sound quality in almost every case than any oversize palmtop. Most couple that with built-in smart TV features for streaming—most often by way of Android TV. None of this hurts their usability for business presentations, and some types of presentations can benefit from the better audio. But the extras also mean these models will do a better job than most oversize palmtops for watching movies. Many can also double as Bluetooth speakers. Inexpensive Single-LCD Mini Projectors Which brings us to one of The Freestyle's lesser known features; one which honestly makes all the difference in the world for those looking to use Samsung's projector as their primary home entertainment device – The Freestyle will automatically connect to compatible devices on your Wi-Fi network, especially Samsung ones. There are mini projectors, and then there's the Optima ML 750ST. Photos of the projector don't show how small this projector is. It fits in the palm of your hand. It's also a short-throw projector, so you can have the projector close to the screen and still have a full-sized picture. In this case, you can get a 100-inch projection just six feet away.

RIF6: What about the competition?

So a good place to start your buying search for the best portable projector is to divide the universe of portable projectors into categories by size, shape, and weight. To help you decide which category you should be looking in, we'll start with the smallest, lightest projectors and work our way up, adding in additional factors for defining categories where appropriate, and covering what you need to know about key specs along the way. Lower power consumption: Due to the need to provide enough light for the projector to display an image on screen, lamps consume a lot of power. However, since each laser only needs to produce one color (similar to an LED), it is more efficient. That said, we did find that The Freestyle ironically had trouble registering the surface of our projector screen. Even with the projector pointed directly at the screen from a very central position, it always defaulted to a skewed image. While the new OS is still based on Tizen, it often takes well over a second for individual button presses on the supplied remote to register on screen. This makes the act of simply navigating Netflix, or adjusting picture settings, an absolutely aggravating affair.

Hisense promises a maximum brightness of 1600 Ansi lumens. They're nearly there in the standard selection with 1568 lumens measured at 100% laser power. But let's start with its cinematic prowess. The Freestyle offers Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution projection with HDR10 support at up to 550 lumens of brightness. On paper, that doesn't sound like much, but we were pleasantly surprised by the bright and vivid images it's able to produce. The cropping (overscan) setting is disabled by default, as evidenced by my dedicated 4K test chart. So unless you want to lose parts of your image leave it inactive. Overscan The Sony VW325ES brings this high image quality to any kind of content. Its Motionflow technology keeps on-screen action smooth so sports and action movies stay sharp and detailed. It also supports 3D content and has upscaling for lower resolutions, so all content will look great on the VW325ES.

It's got everything you need, including a speaker built into the base and a built-in app store—connect it to a Wi-Fi network, and you're good to go.

Before moving on to the study of the menus and options dedicated to the image of the C1 I must open a small parenthesis of context which will make it possible to better understand one of the reasons for my enthusiasm for this Hisense cinema laser projector. The cube map is generated by first rendering the scene six times from a viewpoint, with the views defined by a 90 degree view frustum representing each cube face. [1] Or if the environment is first considered to be projected onto a sphere, then each face of the cube is its gnomonic projection.

RIF6 Cube: Any negatives?

To perfect the projection experience, the built-in sound system has been developed in collaboration with JBL ( Dolby Atmos compatible) and the on-board connectivity is complete. In particular, there is an HDMI 2.1 port.

The second-generation Nebula Capsule projector takes everything that made the first one so great and adds to it. It’s a similar shape to the original, albeit slightly larger, and just as easy to sling in a bag or pop in a cupboard when you’ve finished using it. It has a built-in rechargeable battery so you can use it on the go without having to faff around with a power cord, and it comes with integrated speakers and a range of connectivity options. The C1 offers several image modes depending on the detected source including standard, cinema day, cinema night, dynamic, sport, filmmaker mode for SDR signals. The detection of HDR signals gives access to their equivalents. HDR Modes From the outset, an important point to note, this is not an import device. It is marketed in a version fully adapted to the French and European market with local support and warranty. The American version of the Hisense C1 Cube may be slightly different.
