About this deal

Gardening expert Fiona recommends using a garden hose rather than a pressure washer to clean the desk if you really don't want to risk causing any damage.

The product should be left on for up to 30 minutes but not allowed to dry, so it is best to perform the application on a dry but overcast day, and you may need to apply further product before washing it off just to keep it wet. Once the time is up, you should wash it off with a pressure washer or hose. Being heavy-duty, the formula is highly toxic and should be washed off thoroughly and kept away from the skin as it is caustic. When you compare it to the Everbuild you won’t have any issues at all with the quality. Both are up to the job of killing and loosening Algae and mould, taking a fair bit of the strain out of the process. I’ll say it again though, with volume it’s probably even more important – you could do with a jet washer to lighten the load.

If your wood is coated with wood oils, whether that be teak oil, linseed oil or another type of wood oil we’d first and foremost recommend you strip them using Aquanett. It’s designed specifically for removing wood oils and it’s a gel formula so it’s easy to use. Solvent-based: This type of paint stripper works by weakening the bond between the surface and the paint. Solvent-based strippers work effectively on paint, epoxies and varnishes, removing them from surfaces such as wood, metal and masonry. These strippers tend to have harsh chemical smells and are generally more expensive. Common solvents used in paint strippers are benzyl alcohol and n-butyl acetate. Water-based strippers fall within the category of solvent-based, as water acts in the solvent in this case; these strippers may also contain small amounts of chemicals, but not nearly as much as traditional solvent strippers. After rinsing ALWAYS neutralise surface with Net-trol except where Tropitech is the chosen finish (see “After stripping/cleaning”). Do not use a wire brush to scrub the surface.Leave it to work for around 30 minutes, keeping an eye out for any patches that start to dry out. If this happens, re-apply on these areas. Weed Membrane stops weed growth while allowing water and nutrients to penetrate the soil underneath. Where your measurement falls on the boundary of two sizes, we recommend selecting the larger of the two sizes for a comfortable fit.

After 30 minutes, scrape the surface with something sharp like a paint scraper. If the stripper hasn’t worked you will need to apply a bit more and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Once removed, rinse thoroughly with lots of fresh clean water, using the highest pressure from the water source available or via the use a pressure washer at 500-1000 psi (35-70 bars). For the best possible results you’ll want a pressure washer but scrubbing hard works fine too. Simply dilute it down a bit if you like and spray it on with a pressure sprayer. A cautionary word that you may change the colour of your timber temporarily until you stain or oil it again. The result is normally something near new. Pros: Owatrol finishes are penetrating products which means that they do not leave a film on the surface of the wood, but instead penetrate deep down into the wood protecting it from the inside out.Cover and protect everything you do not wish to strip or clean, including plants, shrubs and any aluminium surfaces. There are two broad categories of paint stripper: solvent-based and caustic-based. The one you’ll need to use is dependent on the material of the surface you’re applying it to, the condition of the surface and what type of paint is being removed.

Using weed control fabric significantly reduces the need for chemical weed killers while being safe to use and very easy to install. Leave it to do its job for around 30 minutes. It won’t blister or fizz but that doesn’t mean it’s not working. If it’s a hot day, you might need to re-apply the stripper to patches that have dried out.

Scrub the surface with a stiff brush. Go along the grooves and across to loosen the finish underneath. Rinse with copious amounts of freshwater, using the highest pressure from the water source available or use a Power Washer at 500-1000 psi (35-70 bars) working in direction of grain. (Rinse adjacent areas at same time). Start spraying or rolling the stripper along edges first and then fill up the entire remaining area, During application, make sure to keep the applied surface wet with a garden hose water mist or spray. Work in small sections and be careful, as it can be quite slippery when it’s working. It doesn’t blister or fizz but don’t worry, it’s doing the job. If Tropitech is the chosen finish, lighten wood with a 1 part bleach to 3 parts water solution. Restrictions
