I loved Cam Roham since his first appearance in 'Devil in Winter', so I was more than thrilled when Kleypas made him the 1st hero in her new Hathaway series. Unfortunately, his story didn´t live up to my expectations. Don´t get me wrong, Cam was still as interesting as ever in 'Mine Till Midnight', but little else was up to par. :( Evangeline Jenner (Evie) has been physically abused by her Aunt and Uncle since she was a little girl. She stutters and is considered a wallflower. Her father is a gambling club owner and is dying, but her Aunt and Uncle refuse her wishes to see him. Ever since she was promised to her cousin for marriage, she is desperate to get away from her abusers and will do anything necessary to see her father before he dies, including asking Lord St. Vincent to marry her. Also it was so cool to see St. Vincent (sigh) and Evie, and Westcliff and Lillian. I like how down to earth Lillian is, and it's clear that she's been a great influence on Westcliff, although he's still bossy as ever. You see, Leo after the loss of his fiancee acts irresponsible and he is not caring for anything or anyone else. It's a really pity that Leo had drown to the despair and i didn't like at all his attitude. He was selfish and mean and i wanted to slap him in many points... I can say that he was my least favorite from this bounce, but i'm almost sure that i will change opinion for him, if he'll change!!!

He drank slowly, forcing down every swallow. He drank part of the next cup until his throat would no longer work, and he turned his face against her chest and shuddered. His head was spinning and sparks were drifting all around him like falling stars. When an author starts a series, I understand he/she has to spend some time introducing a whole bunch of characters and "setting the stage", so to speak, but I think Kleypas went a bit too far in this book. Ultimately, Cam and Amelia "paid the price": there wasn´t enough room to show the development of their relationship, because there was too much going on with the secondary characters (all aligned to be the heroes and heroines in the next Hathaways books, of course). I think this quote from Marcus, Lord Westcliff, in Devil in Winter, pondering the mystery of Evie and Sebastian’s romance, explains it best. Evie is one of the wallflowers. Her major flaw is her shyness and her stammer. No one knows that Evie has lived an abused life. As St.Vincent learns more of her past, he is determined to protect and keep her safe. At the end of the novel she saw how much she loved him and the fact that he did what he did to put his own life in danger meant he shared the feeling. So for evie alone she would want him to live.Interestingly enough, the things that touched me the most about this book were not even related to Amelia and Cam, but Win and Merripen, which is who I felt the most connected to. It was heart wrenchingly clear that they care for each other – I’d even go so far as to say that they love each other. The Hathaways are an entertaining family, each sister having a distinct personality that I hope to see more of. There were moments that their sisterly interactions reminded me of one of my favorite books, Little Women. You can guess who Win reminded me a little of. Though he was tempted to demand her purpose in visiting him, Sebastian feared that might set off a round of prolonged stammering that would torment them both. He waited with forced patience, while Evangeline appeared to consider what she was about to say. As the silence drew out, Sebastian watched her in the gamboling firelight, and realized with some surprise that she was attractive. He had never really looked at her directly, had only received the impression of a frowsy red-haired girl with bad posture. But she was lovely.

Mine Till Midnight is the beginning of the Hathaways Sisters series, and while it doesn't explicitly say so, you need to read The Wallflowers series beforehand because SO MANY characters overlap and I feel you would be confused if you didn't. The book is not the first in the Wallflower series, but actually the third. It was published in the year of 2006. However, the main characters aren’t ones that repeat from one book to the next, though they are featured in one form or the other, but in a side character shape. Young Girls and Their Dreams It’s no wonder that Devil in Winter is a Kleypas fan favorite and historical romance reader’s dream. The beautiful, touching, and evocative love story of awkwardly shy wallflower with profound, quiet inner strength, Evangeline Jenner, and dashing libertine and unscrupulous, villainous rake Sebastian, Viscount St. Vincent, is absolute magic. Verrry big 5 stars for this remarkable, beautifully romantic, top favorite, keeper! The deep of his character undid me and his charisma sparkled so much that i never even will forget him when he first appeared in the series,in the second book "It happened one Autumn".OH MY GOD how he shines!!!!!!!!!Just wow...wow!On the happy side, I was more than pleased to see Marcus, Lord Westcliff, and Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent, making small appearances in this book. They never fail to put a smile on my face. :)

Overall, I am officially a Hathaway addict and Cam and Amelia's love story is epic and one that I will never forget! I cannot wait to read devour this entire series! Dying in her arms…cradled against her as he relinquished his scarred soul to the darkness…Win would be the last thing he would ever see, hear, feel. Had there been any tears in him, he would have wept in gratitude. While going to college, Kleypas started writing from time to time, with her mother and father offering support upon graduation for her to publish her debut. Aged twenty-one, Kleypas’ debut book was sold. Accordingly, Lisa was dubbed Miss Massachusetts despite her very short figure. Still, she was right about something. Sebastian was indeed desperate. As a multitude of creditors would attest, he was a man who liked to dress well, eat well, live well. The stingy monthly allotment he received from the duke was soon to be cut off, and he hadn’t enough funds in his account to last the month. To a man who had no objection to taking the easy way out, this offer was a godsend. If she was truly willing to see it through. Phyl, I too am very curious to see how Kleypas’ new editor and publisher will affect her writing. I’m so glad you are enjoying the Rosenthal book! :-) I love you so much that I’m drowning in it. I can’t defend against it. I don’t know who I am anymore.
