Airing on Sky One , Dream Team told the story of the players and staff of Harchester United, an English Midlands Premier League football club during the late 1990's and 2000's. Picture the scene – I’m 12 years old, it’s half term, and I’m dressed up in a suit standing in a church.

It was around the 20th death that you started to realise that Dream Team wasn’t really a true reflection on football at all. Now, 20 years to the day it was first broadcast, Dream Team deputy editor Andrew Butler remembers the time he was an extra on the hit show as a mere 12-year-old boy. For it was on that day that Sky One launched the wildly successful Dream Team, the fictional TV series about the weird and wild world of Harchester United. Dream Team continued until it was finally killed off for good in 2007, apparently due to the rise BBC dramas in the same timeslots. With the club hurtling toward relegation, it is revealed that Doyle had coerced goalkeeper Jamie Parker, who was struggling with gambling addiction, to help him deliberately lose games.

Running for a remarkable 419 episodes over the course of a decade, Dream Team charted the highs and lows of Harchester, covering everything from the captain being shot by a sniper when lifting the FA Cup to the gaffer murdering the star player by impaling him on a changing room clothes peg. Naturally.

It was a lovely touch and is still my lasting memory of the time I was an extra on Dream Team. The image of young Rwandan kids dashing around in Le Coq Sportif branded Harchester United kits will have no doubt cause sheer bafflement amongst the local community.

Firstly, I did like the history and a few interviews and scenes in the first few episodes. But everything is stretched out so that even minor events get 5 min in the doc for no reason with fancy editing stretching out the runtime at every minute. An author of a book about the Dream Team recorded some interviews with the players and they stretch out each point and interview making something curious quite dull. It's not quite boring, but close. Through a mix of 25 original interviews, intimate present-day footage with each player of the Women’s Dream Team, and revealing, never-before-seen archival footage selected from over 500 hours from the barnstorming 60-game tour, “Dream On” takes audiences on a nostalgic journey alongside these trailblazers of women’s basketball, who inspired millions of athletes and changed the landscape for future generations.Tragically, as he seemingly relents, Parker is shot dead by the SWAT team, although the team win the replayed match, surviving relegation.
