If your device is able to run a mini pci-e mining riser, which I have found is a big if, then you would need an adapter to be able to use that riser cable combo. The only difference between that riser and one that doesn't need an adapter is the cable, That one has a pcie 1x adapter for a regular motherboard slot, and the mini pcie adapter is designed to fit in a mini pcie wifi adapter slot. If you are working with a laptop then you want the mini pcie wifi card slot adapter cable. Are you even sure that your laptop can run an egpu? These adapters are essentially cheaper versions of the EXP GDC Beast and so compatibility is similar. Again you can't just assume that your laptop is compatible as most are not. People spend more on the Beast because it is a more finished product, works with more types of laptop internal connectors, and uses a slim ribbon connection cable. If you have a newer laptop with an internal NVME M.2 slot free you can actually get better performance than all other adapters because it uses a 4x connector ( not to be confused with an internal M.2 SATA slot ).Answer: Please try with these advice, because different laptop models may come with the compatibility problem.
