TRS22 MPS provides access to a selected range of worlds you can edit and expand, limited only by your imagination. More routes will be added as demand requires. Building and filling freight trains with cargo is an expensive business! How on earth do you hope to finance all of this in a 54-card game? With cards! You may need to say goodbye to that Megahopper and Oil Refinery for a few rounds – those two cards can be discarded to pay for the shiny new Level Two Engine you need.

I’m not exaggerating though, the box for this game is very small – It definitely won’t take up a lot of precious shelf real estate in your collection. I may have made a few premature judgements when I saw the box size and read through the rules, but I was pleasantly surprised by how much this game had me planning and plotting once we played it. Game of Trains – Gameplay Take a new carriage card from the draw pile and place it on to your line in any spot. The railcar card you are removing from your line is placed face-up in the centre of the play area next to the draw and discard piles. If there are ever two cards with the same special ability in this area they both get discarded. Player’s turns are limited in Isle of Trains, but present plenty of opportunity. Two actions from the following can be taken: Take a carriage card face-up in the centre of the play area and use its special ability to affect your (and potentially your opponents’) lines in some way. These special abilities allow you to: Important: If after using this ability there are two or more cards with the same ability next to the draw pile, discard them in pairs (meaning that if there is an odd number of cards with the same ability, one will remain). To delete baseboards, drag over one or more existing baseboard edges then use Context Menu > Delete Baseboards Containing Marquee. If at any time there are two cards with identical abilities next to the draw pile both cards are discarded! Important: You must be able to move the card exactly 2 spaces, so the ability cannot be used on the second or first card from the left.

Each player removes the corresponding card from their line except if it is protected (see below). The removed cards are put face up next to the draw pile and their abilities can be used by any player for action 2. The premise is simple. Build the best train on the island and deliver goods to fulfil contracts. However, Dan Keltner and Seth Jaffee have cleverly designed Isle of Trains to be much more than meets the eye! Hold onto your caboose – let’s see if this game delivers the goods. Carriages The locomotive card serves only as a reminder, where the smallest numbered railcar should be at the end of the game. It doesn't count as a railcar and thus is not taken into account when any ability refers to card positions in a line. The Marquee Tool is used to create a rectangular selection box. All of the objects within the Selection Area are selected, along with the Ground, any Effect Layers, and the Ground Textures. Asset thumbnails can now be displayed in 3D within the Asset Palette. This provides you with the flexibility to choose between the traditional 2D thumbnails or the option to view each asset with a 3D thumbnail. This enhancement aims to assist you in easily identifying the assets that best suit your needs when creating your route.

Game Play

The Brush Tool is now multi-purpose and used to painting ground textures, effect layers, scrapbook assets and terrain manipulation. And your brush is now unlimited in size! Most of the time you’re just chugging along working on your own line. Don’t get tunnel vision though - you’ll want to keep an eye on what your opponents are doing in case you need to derail their plans, or to make sure you don’t discard a card with an ability on it that they may be able to use to win, or whether you need to discard a card that has a matching ability to one already on the table to remove a card they might have wanted to use (see, I told you there was a little more thinking to it!) Draw the top card of the Draw pile. You have to put this card in your line of railcars by replacing one of the cards that is already there. Put the replaced card next to the draw pile - the ability on this card will now be available to any player. Or 2. Use A Card's Ability A Route That Has It All - Whether it's InterCity Expresses, commuter services, bulk or local freight and marshalling operations, you'll find it all here. In Game of Trains every card is dual-purpose. However, players don’t activate the ability when they discard the card. Instead, only face-up cards next to the draw pile can be used for their ability and then discarded. When a player removes a card from their lineup it goes into the face-up row of cards. But if there are duplicate abilities showing, they’re discarded. Thus, players can have some control on which abilities are available.
