About this deal

I think you can expect this shoe to last 4-500 miles of mild abuse as a daily trainer. If you only jog 1-2 times a week, you’ll have no problem getting years out of the Cumulus 23. Cumulus 23 has fine grip Well, firstly, they felt like an excellent fit straight out of the box. I took them out on a brisk 5km and as expected they were a delight to run in.....I was probably smiling whilst I was running! They felt incredibly soft, light and bouncy whilst still feeling really supportive and well cushioned under foot. Being completely honest, I thought that the Gel-Cumulus™ 22 was a pretty great all-round shoe but ASICS have improved them, yet again! They actually stayed on my feet all day they were that comfortable. Part of the reason this shoe is so comfortable is because of the new gender-specific features. The Cumulus 23 features Trusstic™ technology that provides gender-specific support. This system helps creature smoother transitions and keeps you stable on the run. My first run was a 10km steady-paced run and I was surprised how well it performed when I increased the pace. Krauss, I., Grau, S., Mauch, M., Maiwald, C., & Horstmann, T. (2008). Sex-related differences in foot shape. Ergonomics, 51(11), 1693-1709.

On the flip side of the coin, you get Asics’ “plain” shoes, their bread and butter trainers that are consistent, dependable and give you what you expect. Engineered mesh upper adds strategic support in targeted areas while leaving some of the fibres open to improve breathability.Another great feature that I appreciate about the fit is how easy it is to slide these on and off. The interior is really smooth, which helps. What do we need that the ASICS GEL-Cumulus cannot provide? It has the classics ASICS Gel, the ASICS FLYTEFOAM midsole, decent upper, and solid traction. Simply put, it’s a running shoe when you don’t want to figure out just what the f** kind of running shoe you need to put on your feet. They’re just shoes!

The high versatility of the Cumulus 23 means that it can handle easy runs, recovery runs, steady runs and it even has enough cushioning for long distances of 40+ kilometres. When ASICS kindly sent me a pair of the new Gel-Cumulus™ 23 it was an easy ask to write a review. These are my sixth pair of Gel-Cumulus™ and they really do just keep getting better and better. It’s a neutral daily trainer with enough form in the heel to add stability for runners that care more about just getting out for a jog than those focused on their stride and speed. Saucony Ride 14- The best in class 2020 trainer only gets better in its 2021 edition, with an improved fit and ride ROBBE: Last year, all three of our reviewers were pretty into this shoe as an overall daily trainer. I actually wore it but didn’t review it because do we really need four people and a dissertation on the Cumulus? Absolutely not. Even at tempo speeds of 4.25 minutes per kilometer, the Cumulus 23 didn’t feel like it was out of its comfort zone. Fit: A- (Secure, slightly snug fit. Toebox is slightly tapered but does stretch. Upper comfortable against bare skin) A 3D SPACE CONSTRUCTION has been added to the top layer of the midsole to improve cushioning and flexibility.

Stability: B- (Neutral shoe. However narrow midfoot and posterior/lateral heel flare creates excessive load/instability) You want a soft plush ride. Although the Cumulus is padded, its sibling the Gel Nimbus is a better option for those that want a plush feeling underfoot. The upper is dense and padded without any real venting. The idea is the weave is just loose enough to dissipate heat. However, it feels a bit warm on hot days. For me, there aren't any cons but if you're looking for a pair of higher performance running shoes , ASICS has such a great offering in their 'Run Faster' range which uses all the latest technology. You want a budget, lightweight shoe. If weight is your focus, the ASICS Hyper Speed is still budget-minded but almost 2 ounces lighter.

ROBBE: Well look what we have here. A tale as old as time itself, or at least as old as the 21st century. The ASICS GEL-Cumulus 23, the axis of the ASICS universe, or at least the equilibrium. Coupled with the GEL-Nimbus 23, they’re the legacy horses in the ASICS stable. In more modern terms, they’re the girlfriend/boyfriend who won’t leave you until you leave them. As for the outsole, there’s a ton of rubber. This will also help this shoe last much longer. I’m someone who doesn’t mind the weight added by rubber because it provides grip and helps protect the shoe. While the Nike Pegasus, New Balance 880, Saucony Ride and Hoka Clifton receive upper-only updates every other year, you can expect the Cumulus to get a brand new upper, midsole and outsole every year. When I tested the Nimbus 23, I felt foot fatigue on longer runs because of how soft and spongy its forefoot is but the Cumulus 23 has just the right amount of cushioning to feel efficient on long runs.
