About this deal

To save more money on food, remember there are loads of other foods you can regrow from scraps, such as spring onions and ginger. You could make a greenhouse using items that might otherwise be thrown away, such as old windows and doors from a demolition or renovation project. A sunny windowsill can be enough to get started with container gardening. No matter where you live, it is possible for you to grow at least a small proportion of your own food.

Amazingly, after about a week, a new little celery head should pop up. At this point, you can transfer it into some soil in a pot or grow bag. You'll have a whole new edible celery within a few weeks.

If you are feeling really ambitious, you could even consider creating a zero cost greenhouse. Or another under-cover growing area for your garden. Sow your seed into shallow drills (lines) about 1cm deep or broadcast (scatter around) and then cover over with a light sprinkling of soil. Well, you might be amazed by how easy it is to make a new growing area, and by how little you might need to spend.

You can either buy tomato seeds and plant them, or opt for a young plant that already has a vine if you want to start producing sooner. Put the celery root in a shallow bowl or cup of water by a window sill, making sure it's not totally submerged. Then, you'll just need to spray the top with water occasionally so it doesn't dry out. But before you head out and buy your seeds, it could be worthwhile trying to source seeds and plants for free. Making the Most of What You Already Have

Be sure to think about sunshine and shade, rainfall and water, soil type and quality and other environmental factors. You should also be sure to consider where your vegetable garden sits in relation to other elements of your garden – your kitchen door, and your compost heap, for example. The easier your vegetable patch is to access, the easier maintenance will be over time, and the less likely waste is to occur. Cress is so easy to grow that you could even plant some in an old yoghurt pot, or empty eggshells if you're feeling really creative. As much as possible, the Go, Grow, Glow foods should be included in every meal. Filipinos should follow the Pinggang Pinoy as a good way to practice moderation, variety, and balance in every meal to get all the nutrients our body needs. 3. I love rice as well as other sources of Go foods. I eat them a lot in a day. Is it healthy?
