In a rare journey into fresh waters (a river), the Octonauts follow some migrating eels and help an injured eel on his difficult journey when he gets stranded from the others. Note: Two new episodes called Octouants & the Queensland Lungfish & Octouants & the Meaglodon were on Wikipedia of Octouants!. A sea otter who speaks with a Scottish accent. Dr. Shellington is a biologist who assists the Octonauts on missions. He is not a very good driver and once crashed the GUP-D. Catchphrase: "Jumping jellyfish!" and "Fascinating". Peso tries to help a young sperm whale overcome his fear of deep diving, an ability it must later use to rescue Peso when he gets caught by a giant clam on the seabed.

Shellington has crashed the Gup-D three times, once in The Remipedes, once in The Hammerhead Sharks, and once in Operation Cooperation.

The Gup-M is a land-based Gup. It stands for the mudskipper and/or motorcycle. It first appears as art in the credits, before making its animated debut in the Caves of Sac Actun movie where Tweak, Codish, and Grouber use them to search the Yucatan Jungle to find Barnacles and Peso. Official merchandise and toys of the Gup have already been produced. The Gup-K was invented by Tweak. It is half swamp boat and half tank. Barnacles drives the Gup-K in The Great Swamp Search episode to save invasive species from Tweak's home, the Everglades, from a wildfire. Its design was based off of an alligator. Tweak had the idea for this Gup since she was a little bunny. Gup-C - a large Gup, based on a Blue Whale, with a large towline. This is the only Gup Shellington can pilot safely. The towline is for pulling Gups out of wedged objects. The window at the top is used for the icebreaker attachment. It can release the Gup-Q (the gup used to enter the caves), Gup-M (the motorcycle-like gups driven by Tweak and Codish in the jungle), and the Gup-J (The speeder jets that Kwazii, Dashi, and Shellington were riding on in the coral reef).

The Gup-D is a small, multipurpose Gup with retractable arms and legs. With its legs and arms out it looks like a crab, but with its legs and arms in it looks like a manta ray. The Gup-D is Tweak’s favorite Gup. A walrus mistakes Peso's medical bag for a clam and takes it home. Walruses don't like other animals near their colonies, so Captain Barnacles, Kwazii, and Peso disguise themselves as a fellow walrus to sneak into the dangerous colony and retrieve the medical bag. Peso is going home to Antarctica to watch an annual penguin triathlon, the Iron Clam Competition, but learns to his dismay that his little brother Pinto has entered him in it. Peso will have to slide, dive and swim his way to victory, against the annual athletic winner, Hugo.These are the new vehicles that appear in Above & Beyond, in addition to the vehicles from the original series. These new vehicles specialize in terrestrial missions, and are thus referred to as "Terra-GUPs" (abbreviated as "TG"). All vehicles are equipped with an Octo-Alert.
