Description

The smartphone is fueled by a non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery + Fast charging 100W, 100% in 25 min (advertised). The sensors include Fingerprint (under display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. The device measures 160 x 73.8 x 7.8mm and is quite light, weighing in at just 175g. The curved screen makes the device comfortable to hold in the hand, but the subtle angling at the sides of this phone minimizes accidental touches on the edge of the display. The easy-to-reach power button on the right edge is an added bonus.

Zoom range is the maximum zoom ratio divided by the ultra-wide angle magnification. The focal lengths on HUAWEI Mate 50 Pro are 24 mm (ultra aperture camera), 13 mm (ultra-wide angle camera), and 90 mm (telephoto camera). Calling and standby time data under Low battery emergency mode comes from Huawei lab tests conducted in controlled environments. Actual performance may vary due to differing network conditions and usage conditions. All data is subject to actual usage. Starting from June 16 th in China, the HONOR 50 and HONOR 50 Pro will go on pre-sale starting from RMB 2699 and RMB 3699, respectively. At a later date, the HONOR 50 will also be available in international markets outside of China, including France, Malaysia, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, and the U.K. The HONOR 50 Pro has a customized design to ensure enhanced heat dissipation. The HONOR 50 Pro uses dual VC liquid cooling and high thermal conductivity graphene technology to improve the efficiency of heat dissipation and help maintain a manageable temperature, perfect for those who love to game or vlog for extended periods of time. The HONOR 50 Series is compatible with the newly upgraded Magic UI 4.2 system, which supports multi-screen collaboration, helping users to achieve cross-device and cross-platform operations to boost efficiency whether studying, working remotely, or capturing and sharing content with friends.

Which HONOR smartphone is right for you?

Honor 50 & 50 Pro: 108Mp, f/1.9 ( wide-angle), 1/1.52", 0.7µm, PDAF + 8Mp, f/2.2, 120˚, 17mm (ultra-wide) + 2MP, f/2.4 (macro) + 2MP, f/2.4 (depth sensor) Having never used a phone with such a high-resolution main camera, I was relatively disappointed by the quality of images it produced. While the camera does seem to be sharp from corner to corner, the colors it reproduces are much cooler than what the eye sees. The autofocus is pretty fast, and even in low light, the camera is able to produce good quality images without much noise and the colors are still bold. It’s also the only phone of the four to offer a triple rear camera, rather than quad, but the specs are still impressive.

But now onto the lesser lenses, the 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP depth-sensing and 2MP macro snappers. The former is useful for taking snaps with a wide field of view, but pictures aren’t quite as colorful or high-res as those produced by the main snapper.

We’re fans of the Honor 50 display. It’s a 6.57-inch OLED panel with a FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate and 300Hz touch input rate. The display curves at the edges and is broken up by a cut-out for the front camera at the center of the top edge.

In terms of video specs, the Honor 50 is capable of recording in 1080p at 30fps. There seems to be a 4K mode on the video menu, but I couldn't work out how to select it. The Chinese versions of the Huawei Nova 9 and Nova 9 Pro have been released on HarmonyOS 2.0. The global version of Nova 9 was released on EMUI 12 based on Android 11. Models do not have Google Play services. After an initial unveiling in mid-July, the Honor 50 was officially launched for the global market in late October, and went on sale on November 12.
