About this deal

It comes out perfect every time, and shaves at least 5 minutes off the time this would take in the oven, and achieves a wonderful crisp that I don't think you'd get otherwise.

Your Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer with ClearCook and OdourErase 5.7L has a built-in OdourErase filter that helps remove cooking odours. The touch screen is made up of the temperature and time at the top, with a progress bar underneath. Then you have the banner that shows instructions throughout the process 'Add Food', 'Shake Food', 'End', etc. To get to the function you want, you use the bar below, which has those six functions that we discussed earlier: Air Fry, Bake, Grill, Reheat, Roast and Dehydrate. The First Recipe tried after delivery was definitely the French Fries, which turned out to be excellent and none less than what is Served at High End Stores. However, just like the Instant Vortex Plus, we found that this model’s crisper plate falls out easily if the frying basket is tipped up too much.

Energy-efficient and cost-effective, our recent independent study has revealed that cooking with an Air fryer uses up to 80% less energy required than in the oven.*

The Instant Vortex Plus just got even better, with new ClearCook see through cooking window so you can see exactly how your food is cooking, and new OdourErase air filters to prevent food smells, so you can just enjoy the delicious taste. Smart dial control and digital pre-set buttons to easily adjust time and temperature and cooking progress message bar display cooking status from preheating to cooking and the Message bar guides you through cooking with ‘add food’ prompts and ‘turn food’ reminders for perfect, even results. The other major upgrade over the previous version is the OdourErase technology, which uses built-in air filters to reduce cooking smells wafting through your home – compared to other models on the market, we could certainly detect a clear reduction in cooking smells when using the Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer with ClearCook & OdourErase.

So, should you buy the Instant Vortex Plus 6 Quart 6-in 1 Air Fryer with ClearCook and OdorErase? The name may seem unnecessarily long, but it does hold true. Not only were we able to easily look into the cooking chamber as our food cooked, but we also were free from the majority of cooking odors as we tested the air fryer.A recent independent study has revealed that cooking with an air fryer used up to 80% less less energy required than in the oven, saving energy and costs. So far my favorite use is to re-heat pizza. For this it works incredibly well. Crust turns toasty and crisp, toppings heat through, it's just great. Second best are those frozen potato patties. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside - and no extra oil! (they have plenty on them to begin with). The third thing it's great for is cooking sausage. Pan cooking a sausage is always an exercise in futility. Do you pan roast with the lid on? Lid off? Add water and boil with no lid or steam with the lid? Combination? Pre-Air Fryer I'd do the combination of steam and roast - but it took a long time and without cutting the sausage in half I could never tell if the center was cooked. The touch test you use to tell if a steak is done does not work on sausage. Air fryer - bang! 15 minutes and it's done! Cooked through, but still juicy. And in the time it's cooking I can get the plate set up and the sauerkraut out of the jar. I used the dehydrate feature once - it took quite a while and the end result was just 'ok'. I'll reserve thoughts until I've experimented with other items, but I don't think this option should be a reason to buy. I like to see if I can use air fryers without referencing the instructions, and I got the Instant Vortex Plus up and running without the manual. You just choose the function you want: air fry, roast, bake, reheat, broil, or dehydrate. Then, adjust the time and temperature using the temp/time button and dial, and press start. Since the capacity of the latest Vortex Plus is 5.7 litres / 6 quarts, we plumped for our usual 450g / 1lb batch of steak-cut fries, rather than reducing it as we did to account for the smaller frying basket of the dual-drawer model. We selected the Air Fry cooking mode but raised the default temperature from 196ºC / 385ºF to 204ºC / 400ºF, setting the cooking duration to 15 minutes. The results were crisp and evenly browned fries on the outside, with soft and fluffy potato on the inside.

Just like the Instant Vortex Plus Dual Drawer Air Fryer, the Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer with ClearCook & OdourErase doesn’t include any cooking charts or guides in the box. While the Instant app is loaded with recipes for homemade dishes, there’s no advice for temperature and cooking times for frozen foods. So we used our experience with the Dual Drawer Air fryer as the basis for cooking frozen steak-cut fries. Other foods that are game changers in this thing are french fries, corn dogs, fresh veggies for broiling, and most fried finger foods. The only other job left to do? Give the exterior of the appliance a wipe to banish fingerprints, ideally with a microfibre cloth. Obviously this air fryer is quite big, so it's best to make sure that you don't have any overhanging cupboards above it as it works, to avoid condensation and all kinds of damp problems. How does it compare to similar models? There's only one answer to this question: absolutely yes. I test air fryers for a living, and I've had a fair few in my home by this point, but this is the one that has stood the test of time. It's so easy to use, looks great and crisps up everything you put in like a dream.Just like the Instant Vortex Plus Dual Drawer Air Fryer, the Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer with ClearCook & OdourErase sports an angular design. This ensures it has a smaller overall footprint than its predecessor, measuring 39.2 × 30 × 33cm / 15.43 x 11.81 x 13 inches. The touch controls are positioned closer to the top of the air fryer, while the dial to adjust the cooking temperature and duration is slightly smaller than on the first iteration of the Instant Vortex Plus. The Instant Vortex Plus 6-in-1 Air Fryer offers a cooking temperature range from 35ºC / 95ºF to 205ºC / 400ºF for up to 72 hours at a time – although the latter is at lower temperatures. At its maximum temperature, the air fryer can cook for up to one hour. It’s also possible to adjust the cooking temperature in one-degree increments, compared to the three-degree increments offered by the Instant Vortex Plus.
