About this deal

So, Invincible is a title that's been around for years. Years. This volume collects issues 1-4, first published in 2003. Right now, Kirkman has written 127 issues. Man, that's a long run. I've heard really great comments about this series from people I really trust so I decided to give this a chance. And I liked it, it was a nice introduction to the series. Coalition of Planets: A group of aliens who came together to prevent the Viltrumites from taking over the universe.

And when Mark's in school or at home, I can't say it's any different, really. None of his actions appear to have meaningful consequences, and he's casually let off the hook by his parents. Furthermore, there seems to be no struggle within Mark to come to terms with his powers or his responsibility as a superhero other than losing a couple hours of sleep or getting home too late to eat dinner with his mother. His life looks pretty much perfect, so where's the fun in that? As a compendium, this volume collects a substantial amount of content, providing readers with a substantial and immersive experience. The inclusion of multiple story arcs and issues allows for a deep dive into the Invincible universe. However, it's worth noting that the size and weight of the compendium may pose a challenge for some readers, and the sheer volume of content can be overwhelming for newcomers to the series. There's a charming feel about the book , with a look into a adolescent boy dealing with normal high school stuff and in the mean time acquiring super powers and starting his new job as the amateur superhero. The characters are pretty cool. At first I thought they were kind of bland but as I kept reading the more interested in them I got. That’s a good thing for sure. The problem for me here was simply that the artwork in the graphic novel is essentially the same as that in the show. The story was essentially the same too, though covering considerably less ground than season 1).King Lizard: The leader of the Lizard League who is an expert strategist and an expert at hand-to-hand combat. King Lizard is the only member of the Lizard League to currently be alive. If I hadn't seen the show, I'd probably be waxing lyrical about how fun this was and how it combines effective art with tight storytelling and manages to work at several levels. Rex Splode: Former member of the Teen Team and the Guardians of the Globe who can make objects explode by charging kinetic energy. He sacrificed himself to kill a hostile alternate-dimension Invincible. Thaedus: A peaceful member of the Viltrumites and founder of the Coalition of Planets. He was responsible for killing Emperor Argall enough to plunge Viltrum in a civil war where the weaker Viltrumites were killed. Afterwards, Thaedus went on to establish the Coalition of Planets. Thaedus is later killed by Thragg during the Viltrumite War. Markus Murphy: Also known as Marky, he is the son of Mark and Anissa after the latter raped the former. He would go on to become Kid Invincible.

Skybound Announces Massive Plans for Invincible's 20th Anniversary (Exclusive)". Comics . Retrieved October 11, 2022. Family Matters opens with Invincible (i.e. a kid named Mark Grayson) averting disaster by throwing a suicide bomber into the air over Antarctica the before his bomb detonates. Rewinding four months prior, we learn that Mark is the son of extraterrestrial superhero Omni-Man (i.e. successful novelist Nolan Grayson) and stay-at-home wife Deborah Grayson. One afternoon, while on the job as a fast food employee, Mark suddenly realizes that he has inherited his father's superpowers (including enhanced strength, speed, and flight). Giddy with excitement, Mark dons his new costume and makes his official debut as Invincible by foiling an armed robbery in his city. Skybound X" #25 to Preview Four New Series". Multiversity Comics. April 20, 2022 . Retrieved August 5, 2022. Mark Grayson: A 17-year-old high school student and a Viltrumite/human hybrid who becomes the superhero Invincible. The character development in Invincible is exceptional, with each member of the extensive cast exhibiting depth and nuance. Mark's journey from wide-eyed rookie to seasoned hero is captivating, as he grapples with the complexities of morality and the repercussions of his actions. The supporting characters, including his father Omni-Man, his love interest Atom Eve, and his best friend William, all contribute to the intricate tapestry of the series, each with their own well-defined arcs.

Monster Girl: A girl who was cursed by a gypsy, now able to shapeshift into a large ogre-like creature with superhuman strength. A side effect is that with each change into Monster Girl, her normal self becomes younger physically. Her boyfriend, Robot, however found a cure for the curse, allowing her to develop normally. The story is quite by- the- numbers. It's, so far, nothing new in the super-hero genre, our main character Mark Grayson is the son of the most powerful superhero in the world, Omni-Man (Think of Superman, after all, he's from another planet and has the same powers as Kal-El). Now Mark's reaching puberty so it's time for his own powers to arrive! This volume is the origin story of Invincible a.k.a our likable protagonist. He has to learn how to become a superhero, while balancing his high school and family life. Along the way he runs into a teen superhero group too, has his first battles and meet his first villain.

Girls, acne, homework, supervillains. When you're a teenager it pays to be Invincible. Mark Grayson was just an average kid living in a world full of super heroes. It wasn't until he was a teenager that he gained fantastic powers thanks to his biological father Omni-Man. He was able to fly faster than a jet, lift buildings like Hercules, and battle acne like Proactive. Girls, homework, super villains, it's just another day in the life of the one and only Invincible. Join Mark Grayson in his incredible adventures into the unknown and catch some astonishing surprises while you're at it. This is probably the best superhero comic in the entire universe, or so it claims. On the surface this is yet another Superhero comics , but with a bit of changes added in. Those said changes reminded me of the movie Incredibles . Although it's not a ditto plot it has a bit of similarities with Mark , the titular character , being born into a family with a Super Dad. Interestingly enough though, I did find myself pulled in a bit during the first 1/3 of the second issue. This portion of the book dealt with Omni-Man's alien history on the planet Viltrum. It's easy to tell the tale borrows heavily from Superman, but in some ways, the writer makes it his own. Objectively speaking, it's fairly well done for a origin story so brief, but much of my disproportionate enjoyment can probably be attributed to the fact that it was a welcome change of pace following the previous issue.
