About this deal

Now what do we have here?! A new Miyake that is neither a flanker or something with a name so long that it hardly fits on the bottle. Master Perfumer Nathalie Lorson composed Fusion d’Issey, a fougère for men with solar and mineral notes. A rewriting of a masculine classic. A play on contrasts between the cold and the heat of warming spices. The journey from L’Eau D’Issey Pour Homme to the subject of today’s review – Fusion D’Issey– is probably as neat a summary as we’re likely to get of what’s happened to ‘masculine’ perfumery in the last thirty or so years. Loathe it if you wish, but you’d be hard pressed to deny that the former – composed by Jacques Cavallier– is a landmark of modern scent creation. I had the pleasure of returning to it recently, and I was so pleased to be reminded of how excellent it is. The glass-like coolness of the citrus-aldehydic opening. That downright strange, yet reassuring, flinty-mineralic cleanliness of the heart. And then the ethereal, paper-thin woods of the drydown. Their overall effect remains so heart-stoppingly recognisable, so confident, so articulate.

In my mind, it conjured a less generic, less sharp Davidoff Cool Water Intense, mixed the tropical / sun lotion aspect of Set Sail St. Barts, with a bit of the added modern "Blue" vibe and sexiness. Overall, it's quite a unique combination. On initial spray, I get hit with quite a dense and sweet coconut, with a tiny bit of cardamom. Not very citrusy at all. The density is what sets it apart from actual Blue scents IMO. I tried this again today for probably the third or fourth time already, for me it's definitely been rewarding to try it more than once, I like it more each time. Suited for - its best for people who are looking for a casual scent, which isn't really offensive but has a unique spin ( definitely not a blind buy. The spice/ coconut might not be liked by everyone). Doesn't specifically garner compliments but just makes sure you smell good.

Performance-wise, I did feel it radiate off my wrist after 1-2 hours (2 sprays) - but haven't used it enough to draw a conclusion there. both cool and blazing) dissipate, filling the surroundings with their trailing scent. Underlying the notion of fusion is the choice of warm, volcanic wood featuring patchouli. For Nathalie This is perfumery with flair, style and a twist. It's szechuan peppers all the way and that's not a bad thing. Usage & longevity - hight heat, in the mornings. Found this to be slightly cloying in the colder months and nights. 5-6 sprays on the body lasts me around 6-8 hours ( thanks to the ambroxan). I noticed this juice stays on the clothes quite well. I could still detect it on my shirts after 2-3 days as well.

Middle Notes เป็นการรวมกลิ่นหอมสดชื่นและความร้อนแรงเข้าไว้ด้วยกัน อย่างลงตัว ด้วยโรสแมรี่ เจอเรเนียมและกระวาน The bottle is made of shiny glass in a deep blue color, with the inscription Fusion d'Issey printed in bright orange. Issey Miyake Fusion d'Issey is available as a 50 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. It'll depend on the priorities of each person, but the truth is that it isn't a perfume that will dazzle everyone, nor does it appear to be its intention, either: Fusion d'Issey doesn't come to revolutionize perfumery at all... But what it does, is smell stylish. This one is a fragrance for lovers of the modern trendy but with some different - but subtle -nuances. Ocassions & Mood: Perfect for sunsets on chillout clubs having a drink - spring, summer, early fall - : It's relaxing and comforting... Just perfect. Powerful, vigorous, and fiery, nature reveals itself (again) with a vengeance. Molten lava pours expressively from a volcano. Fusion d’Issey transforms this eruption of energy into a bold, nuanced composition, giving rise to a creative, endemic nature. Depth, tension, and power for a distinctive fragrance. First day wearing this today but so far so good. Nothing like anything else in my collection. A perfect summer scent but can imagine this working in all but the coldest of winters. To my nose the character is mainly derived of Cardamom, Coconut and Lavender so I can understand how some might find the Cardamom-forward character a bit overwhelming. As can happen with other spices like Saffron, too much Cardamom can risk creating a love it or hate it experience. For me personally, though I find it strong this particular balance of spice/herbal/mineral/citrus accords really works. It has a real sunny-warmth about it yet I can also see this being an easy going Spring and Autumn warmth too. I wish I could detect a bit more sweet Mint among the notes but that's not a deal breaker, it is still great as it is. Fusion Extreme is a real perfume, despite the beachy notes. Put some thought into your grooming, attire and posture when you wear this.

To be fair I just got my bottle and I haven't worn it yet, I just sprayed it on my wrist but my first impression is: this is pretty much just Fusion d'Issey in a nicer bottle (a little nicer for that matter since it's the same but with a blue hue instead of a green one). Was I expecting a massive variation from a flanker? No, not really however all the Nuit d'Issey flankers have their own personality even though they have the same dna. Pulse of the Night is not really that similar to Noir Argent, right? L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Eau Fraiche sure has a nice twist in the L'Eau Bleue formula so considering the Fig note was removed from Fusion d'Issey Extreme (Fig was a very strong note in the original) and some other tweaks like ambroxan which is no longer listed as a note and the addition of mineral and solar notes (according to fragrantica) I expected something a bit new but instead the only slight difference I found from that first spray is a more noticeable Cardamom in the opening but it was fleeting.

Will it be the next Encre Noir? I don't know yet but will definitely buy again after I go through this 100ml bottle. The other day my girlfriend suggested, for environmental reasons but times with the subway to düsen in the city. Fusion d'Issey gently opens citrus, herbal and exotic. It's fresh, slightly aquatic and from the beginning it's charmingly aromatic. I believe what Natalie Lorson created here is an anomaly because of what it isn't. You think it's aquatic and fruity because of the coconut, but it's not. You think it's fresh and sweet because of the lavender and mint, but it's not because of the sandalwood. Really interesting, will definitely rebuy! It has character and a unique freshness, not the laundry, detergent type that you get from most recent releases from other houses.
