The Celebrations recipes are unusual. They seem more in keeping with middle-class party food, courgette fries, marmite & spring onion straws or avocado mint choc chip ice cream. There are days when it wears me down, not so much my posts as messages from people who are struggling. I try to reply. I’m constantly giving out energy. But I can put my phone away. My mum had me at 19 and didn’t know how to cook. Junk food was all she knew. She used to go to Iceland where there were lots of buy-one-get-one-free offers. I got into cooking at university. I’m still very greedy. I love chocolate and ice-cream. I eat way more than any average person, but because I exercise five to six days a week I get away with it. It's got some delicious recipes which I am excited to try but it definitely loses points on being accessible and on being a cookbook I'll refer to frequently.

Whilst it's good to get the children involved in food preparation and cooking from a young age and this book sets out to do this, it's not quite as family-friendly as I'd hoped it could be. Like I said at the beginning the ingredients are too adult, though I do think my family would enjoy the Super-simple Rosemary Lamb Stew. He’s won legions of fans with his philosophy 'eat more, exercise less', and even more new followers with his live PE lessons, but did you know he also does cookbooks?
