About this deal

Pippa Fitz-Amobi is not in the mood for her friend’s murder mystery party. Especially one that involves 1920’s fancy dress and pretending that their town, Little Kilton, is an island called Joy. But when the game begins, Pip finds herself drawn into the make-believe world of intrigue, deception and murder.

Overall: that novella I’ve devoured in two hours definitely reminded me of my love and dedication to the series! I need another book! I need it ASAP! Claustrophobic murder mystery game was also entertaining. The plotline reminds us “And Then There Were None” meets Clue. The events take place in an island called Joy where can be reached with only on boat that ships specific scheduled time. Reginald Remy, the patriarch of the Remy family and owner of the Remy Hotels and Casinos empire in London. He’s found dead in his study. There are six people in the house during the murder time. Find out where it all began for Pip in this prequel to the best-selling A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder, Good Girl, Bad Blood and As Good As Dead. Previously published in 2021 as a World Book Day title.Though Kill Joy features the same protagonists who appear in the trilogy—comprising A Good Girl's Guide to Murder (2019), Good Girl, Bad Blood (2020), and As Good as Dead (2021)—the book was an unanticipated add-on to the series, due to its serendipitous raison d’être. Since this is just a pretend murder, the stakes are low. It feels more cozy than suspenseful, but the book does a nice job of injecting some dark atmosphere into the mix, so it's still quite riveting. In fact, I had trouble putting it down and breezed through the whole thing in about two hours. A GOOD GIRL'S GUIDE TO MURDER IS THE WINNER OF THE BRITISH BOOK AWARDS' CHILDREN'S BOOK OF THE YEAR 2020 AND WAS SHORTLISTED FOR THE WATERSTONES CHILDREN'S BOOK PRIZE 2020

Okay. Even though I am EXTREMELY upset about the plot twist at the end, this is my first time ever reading a novella and I TRULY had so much fun with it. Have you ever wondered why the young Pippa Fitz-Amobi chose the Andi bell murder case for her final year Senior Capstone project? Side note: I also listened to the audiobook and that was great too!! 🎧💖 Would recommend that format- it was a really fun story to just pop on when I also wanted to do something else at the same time 🥰🥰Throughout this entire book, I found myself laughing hysterically. Tears and all. 🥹🥹🥹. Just the disorganization of the party and how awful Pip, Cara, Conner, Zach, Lauren, Anthony, and Jamie were at playing their characters was both cute and hilarious. I also found myself gaining a much better understanding of Pip and her overall ability to solve murder cases. It was definitely fun to revisit Pip's world. I was a little sad that the series was over, so I'm glad to have this bonus story so I could experience just a bit more of what I loved. There was also a singular mention of Ravi and honestly? I screamed. I LOVE HIM SM 😩😩 Just that mention made me sooo giddy.

okay so this wasn’t a bad start to the series. however i wasn’t a big fan of this novella. i thought that pip acted superior compared to her friends at times and it was kinda annoying. another thing was how she criticized everyone in this book, from the character she played to her friends and their roles. also she was lowkey a sore loser towards the end of her game, but i do see that her theory was very well thought out!

I will say, I don't generally gravitate towards novellas (or short stories, for that matter). It's because I find them to be a bit unsatisfying. Just as you're getting into the whole thing, it's already over. And it felt a bit like that here. I wanted more. More of the murder, more of the solving, more of the explanation. But I suppose it's better to end up wanting more than wanting less, so that's a small complaint.
