Powerful, brilliant, and ambitious, Dominic Davenport clawed his way up from nothing to become the King of Wall Street. I want to cry because I had so many expectations from this book after their first scene in King of Wrath, but this disappointed me in the worst ways! My imaginary scenarios are much better than this book! 😭 this review contains SPOILERS. if you haven’t read the book yet, do not read any further. you’ve been warned. she was already moving on when I’d been slowly dying inside for the past six weeks, five days, and four hours." i’ll probably give this series one more chance and read the next book, but i learned my lesson and i won’t have high expectations. if it’s better; good. if it disappoints me again; then it won’t be a surprise.

Let's get to the point of this review. Why I didn't like it. These are my thoughts, so please be aware that you may not agree with them. Spoilers also start here! He followed her to Brazil and left his job for a while ( oh wow finally, after years of not doing it ) I hated that he kept saying how much he loved her, his life made no sense without her, she was everything to him, but then he did this. The author made it seem like divorcing is so easy, he signed the papers and then boom they are not together. You're literally ending a ten-year marriage. It's not that simple. I know they were filthy rich, but has she ever read anything about any big divorces between rich and known people? If it had been some small town couple with normal problems, it might have been less complicated, but Dom was a damn billionaire, known to many people. And still, he was like "Yeah, we divorced, but it doesn’t change anything." Yeah, it does. For you, it does. The magical girl, who was no longer a magical girl, ate many things. Authority, money, fame, and many other forms of pleasure. She ended up eating away anything in her sight. Now, only visceral greed remains." Her books have been sold to over two dozen foreign publishers for translation and featured in outlets such as NPR, Cosmopolitan, Financial Times, and Glamour UK.

Happiness became obsession, obsession became greed, and the greed forever solidified to become a golden amber. The happiness in the beginning, still holding a smile, dwells inside. It isn’t until she’s gone that he realizes there may be more to life than riches and glory…but by then, it may be too late.

He has everything—a beautiful home, a beautiful wife, and more money than he could spend in a lifetime. But no matter how much he accumulates, he’s never satisfied. It isn’t until she’s gone that he realizes there may be more to life than riches and glory . . . but by then, it may be too late. The King of Greed, The Servant of Wrath, The Queen of Hatred, The Knight of Despair are all part of the same Magical Girl group. His constant need for more and more was because of his past when he was poor and struggled so much to have everything in his life! Bullying, being an unwanted child, insecurities drove him to get greedy! (did I care? well nah) I also, don’t know what to say about Alessandra. She was a rich wifey (I mean, good for her), she had a pressed flowers business and didn't even try to make her ex-husband work for it, because she ran to bang him every chance she got. She actually made the right decision by remarrying him because I don't think her "Etsy shop turned pressed flower boutique" business will keep her afloat for long.

A brand-new steamy billionaire romance from the bestselling author of the Twisted series

The first bit of humanity's desire started with the bite of a sweet apple. We've been banished from Eden for that sin. And now we're standing inside a vast orchard. My basket is so large, all the fruits of the world can't make it full. But, is it so bad to lust for honey when there are flowers? After all, we are born to pursue happiness." King of Greed's ability will trigger when her Qliphoth Counter is depleted. Her Qliphoth Counter can fluctuate in the following ways: This story was the only one I actually planned to read from this series, only because I wanted to see if this author can handle the marriage in crisis trope. I tried to read the previous books, but the word 'CEO' was mentioned enough times to give me a headache so I gave up. At least now I know that I have to stop reading the next stories in this series, because when this book let me down, I don't think the rest of it will change my mind about it.

I sometimes feel a terrible dejection, but I do not know where the pain comes from. ...Many people have secretly wished for a hero." Alessandra sounded so interesting from her small appearances in the previous books, i thought i would absolutely love her and that she would became my favorite FMC of the series. but this book made me realize that she was better as a side character. apart from the fact that she is half-brazilian — and as a brazilian myself, i enjoyed that — there was nothing else about her that i found remarkable. i’m not saying that she’s a bad character; she’s not. she’s just not memorable. which is sad, because i was expecting much more from her.We love a good groveling. Look, I know there shouldn't be a comparison between Alex's groveling and Dom's groveling because they're two different situations, but Alex groveled for a year. No, 4-5 months like Dom, and Alex was only Ava's boyfriend, not her partner of eleven years like Dom. Dominic is basically like every Ana Huang’s men, but with small differences. same character, different font. it’s getting old and repetitive. did he have a personality besides being rich and workaholic? i can’t recall. he’s also not bad, but not amazing either. i wasn’t really expecting much from him, so i can’t say i’m disappointed. The King of Greed seems to be linked to The Queen of Hatred and the The Knight of Despair, with all three being named 'Magical Girls' to start. It is mentioned in her last Final Observation Dialogue that she is sisters with the other Magical Girls. She was one of the 'heroes' who wanted to protect the world, but due to her own desires she met her demise. The King of Greed sealed herself away in her current golden egg-like form. In her entries, her breaching form is meant to be a symbol of greed and desire, representing a hungry fish who lures those to the bottom of the mind's river. The final quote of The King of Greed's bio (and subsequently her selection screen text) is a modified version of the lyrics for the fourth movement of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, which in turn took its words from Friedrich Nietzsche’s Also sprach Zarathustra: the "Midnight Song". She has high HP at 1500 and moderately slow Movement Speed. When breaching, The King of Greed moves in only one direction, and when reaching the end of a hallway or another door, will teleport to another random hallway in the same manner as before. A portal appears a few seconds before the King of Greed leaves the current hallway; it is sometimes possible to visually locate the exit portal and determine where the Abnormality will next emerge.
