About this deal

The newest version of the legendary Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite NXT again takes home high honors in the ultralight category. The most current version of this pad gained some extra warmth and shaved off a few ounces. Plus, it's now considerably quieter than previous versions — light sleepers who couldn't handle the crinkling sound from this pad can now sleep soundly. I touched on the Static V2’s comfort in the “design” section, but I will cover comfort and stability in more detail here. This pad is super comfortable and affordable, plus it has an awesome inflation bag to make setting up camp a breeze Sea to Summit has yet again graced our list. This time with the Comfort Plus SI sleeping pad. This is the pad to go with if the priority is 3-season comfort above all else. Delivering a cushy 2.5 inches of padding, this self-inflating sleeping pad is also built from 30-denier stretch-knit top fabric, which is going to deliver a slightly more durable performance over lightweight pads. The Xtherm does a terrific job of retaining heat. Pretty much all of the mainstream gear testers have showered the Xtherm with rewards for the duration of it’s life.

Overall, I absolutely love this pad. It’s extremely lightweight without sacrificing luxury and comfort. Now that the results are in, I hope you find it easier to choose a sleeping pad for your travel style 🙂 With an R-value of 2.1, it provides little insulation, so don’t plan to use it when the temps fall below about 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Let’s take a look at what makes a sleeping pad comfortable. The optimal sleeping pad will feel as light as a feather; you want to feel like you are sleeping on air – no pressure points or deflation throughout the night! If you want a 3-4 season sleeping pad, then the V2 is not for you, as this is a non-insulated pad that focuses on weight and comfort over the R-Value. This is also a uni-sex sleeping pad. Women-specific pads insulate the core and feet area more.

The Klymit Static V2 is one of the best-valued sleeping pads on the market. For one, it’s the most comfortable sleeping pad I’ve used, providing plenty of cushion and stability. The topper fabric is very soft and quiet. And overall, the pad is pretty quiet when you shuffle around on it. But it’s definitely not silent and does create a few crinkles when you shift around. Inflation and Deflation This sleeping pad is the lightest 4-season pad we've ever seen while also being the warmest in our lineup While foam pads do not require inflation to use, all other pad types are built with an integrated air valve. Historically, valves have been the weak point of sleeping pads, and they can be difficult to replace once broken.

The good news is, it’s the year 2023 and there are plenty of options for great camping sleeping pads. In fact, there are so many options that you may need some help narrowing down the options. From the best affordable sleeping pad to the absolute top-end option on the market, there’s lots of choices. Both myself (a cold sleeper and 5’6” woman), and my boyfriend (a hot sleeper and 6′ male) tested the Klymit sleeping pad. This ultralight Thermarest inflatable mattress is, as far as self-inflating sleeping pads go, the smallest sleeping pad on the market. Unrivaled in terms of convenience, the Pro Lite comes in a range of three sizes (short, long, and regular) and each size is a different price meaning you can save some money if you need a small sleeping pad.
