Description

The MDF base also functions as a kerf line so you can clearly see the blade's path and know exactly where your saw will cut every time. Use material support wings for safely cutting long boards and managing offcuts. The Crosscut Station can be used to make straight cuts and miter cuts. The kerf in the station helps to position workpieces for accurate cuts. Merriam-Webster defines kerf as “a slit or notch made by a saw.” Straight Cuts Step 1. Measure and Mark I’ve read quite a few comments on social media that were critical of the Crosscut Station. Comments like: The Crosscut Station also has two wings that swing out to accommodate longer pieces of wood for extra stability. What are the pros of the Kreg Tool Crosscut Station?

If you’ve been following along with us for any amount of time, you know our goal is to provide easy projects that you can replicate yourself. One of the best ways to do that is to use user-friendly tools and for that we are huge fans of Kreg Tool products for cutting and joining.

When the fence is set for 45 degrees, the maximum width of the board that can be cut is a 1×4 or 3-½”. This is good to know if you regularly need to make 45-degree cuts on boards wider than 1×4s. The Crosscut Station is a great option for DIYers with a small workshop or those without a dedicated workshop. Like do-it-yourselfers who live in an apartment. Make the cut: Position the plywood on a stable surface, and make sure it is properly supported. Turn on the saw and align the blade with your cut line. Then, slowly and steadily guide the saw along the cut line, applying consistent pressure. Keep your hands well clear of the saw blade, and make sure you are wearing appropriate safety gear, like eye protection and gloves. Thank you to my friends at Kreg Tool for sending me the Crosscut Station. I received this tool in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Don’t rely on the blade included with a circular saw to make clean cuts in plywood. Instead, step up to a carbide-tipped blade with at least 40 teeth. The Crosscut Station is affordable, easy to set up, and easy to use. But it might not be the right fit for every DIYer. I’m sharing how to set it up, how to use it, how to know if it’s right for you, and my review of the tool. Circular saws are versatile, but they don’t usually cut straight without a little help from a fence or a guide. The Kreg Crosscut Station turns a circular saw into a tool that makes accurate crosscuts and miter cuts.

Kreg Crosscut Use & Thoughts

Another huge pro of the Crosscut Station is that you can cut pieces wider than most miter saws will accept. The Crosscut Station is big enough to fit a 12″ wide board, which most miter saws can’t cut.

I tested my circular saw on the station and noticed there was a slight drag or friction between the metal plate of the saw and the metal guide rails of the station. The Rip-Cut simplifies breaking down sheet goods as it rides along the edge of the sheet to ensure straight, accurate, and repeatable cuts. There's no need to measure and mark layout lines thanks to the edge-guided design. This guide allows you to rip continuous lengths of plywood up to 24" wide. The Universal Sled accepts left- and right-hand saws and is also compatible with the Kreg Accu-Cut and Accu-Cut XL. When cutting plywood, the good side — the one you want showing when you’re finished — should be facing down.Compound miter saws are fairly inexpensive, but their maximum cutting capacity is about 5-6 inches. Sliding miter saws have a larger cutting capacity but they also come with a larger price tag. Circular saws usually come with blades that have less than 40 teeth. Blades with less than 40 teeth usually cause the wood to tearout. The station includes two clamps. The clamps hold workpieces in place while making cuts. Adjustable Fence In this case, the miter cut would need to be made in two cuts. First, the board would be cut straight to the final length. Then, the board would be cut to the desired angle. Width of the Board If you want to cut your board at an angle, you can use the provided adjustable fence to set the angle you want, place the board against that, and push the saw through the wood.
