CC Button allows you to send a Control Change message. You can determine the CC number, the 'on' value, the 'off' value, the channel, and the behaviour (Momentary, Toggle, and Trigger which lets you increment through values). Control Change messages are useful for mapping to various functions, you can map them to things in Ableton such as device or transport controls. The Chromatic Keyboard includes all 12 notes in an octave. You can customise which octave and which channel this sends out on. If your computer features a Type-C port, you can use a USB-B to USB-C cable (not supplied) to connect one of these products. All cables should follow the same specification, but it's advised that you buy from a reputable brand if purchasing an additional cable. The Launchpad Mini Mk 3’s about as small as you can get and still be usable. True, the X is more fun for finger drummers, and more ‘playable’ in general thanks to the superior pads, but for basic clip and scene launching, and drum triggering, the Mini works fine, especially now clip colours are visible.

When dragging a Widget onto a slot with a Widget already in place, the previous Widget will be removed: Components has a number of widgets including unipolar and bipolar faders (horizontal and vertical), chromatic and scale specific keyboards, 4x4 drum grid, MIDI note button, MIDI CC button and MIDI Program Change. Each has selectable MIDI channel, CC, value and colour settings, and widgets can be freely combined as long as they fit within the 8x8 grid. There are a variety of ways to navigate around Live using the controller. Hitting the Shift key will select the secondary arrow function of four buttons to the right of the main 16 pads, which let you navigate around the rest of your session. Using Shift again and either the big Play button – which is also used to launch Scenes or rows of clips – or Stop/Solo/Mute button will move the 2×8 grid representing what clips Launchkey controls up or down.
