About this deal

The main difference between the Launchpad Mini and Launchpad MK2 is the RGB light system. The Launchpad MK2 has an RGB light system that provides more information, such as the colours of Ableton clips, shown on the hardware. The Launchpad Mini MK1 and 2 do not have the RGB light system and contain only 4 colours (Green, Yellow, Orange, and Red). Super-sensitive RGB Pads — Large RGB velocity- and pressure-sensitive pads give you a perfect reflection of your Ableton Live session, making it easier than ever to see your clips and play your instruments dynamically and expressively.

The 8x8 grid of RGB pads light up to match the colour of your clips in Ableton, so you can concentrate on triggering and combining your loops and ideas. Softube Time and Tone bundle – made up of four of Softube's world class plug-ins: reverb, delay, an easy to use mastering tool and distortion. It's class compliant and doesn't need any drivers: you just install the software, plug it in and start performing. Reflects the layout used in legacy Launchpad software and projects, which is especially useful for recalling lightshow layouts. Trigger threshold

The latest Logic Pro Update (10.6) guarantees full compatibility between the MK3 and Live Loops. This means you'll be able to use the controller to trigger sounds, navigate your way through complex sessions and have a greater "hands-on" approach when producing and performing. The all-new custom mode allows you to map the grid to suit your every want and need, you can even create your own unique performance set-ups. These can be configured using Novation Components which can be accessed via Google Chrome or through the standalone app. Built for Ableton Live The light and velocity-sensitive pads are wonderful to play, and are more like those of Ableton’s Push 2 than, let’s say, the less reactive Akai MPC... If you’re on a budget (the street price will be lower than that stated above), this is a good option, especially as it includes a copy of Ableton Live 10 Intro."

If you already have Ableton Live it must be version 10 or greater to work with Launchpad Pro. We recommend that you update to the latest version, as previous versions of Ableton Live do not include Launchpad Pro integration with Live. Launchpad Pro will also work as a standard MIDI controller. As you say they are way more expensive so I would expect them to be significantly better than an LPP. Oh, and while i'm giving basically a full on review of the devices....let me add a few final notes that may be off your radar or not in any youtube review you watch.Never lose ideas and happy accidents with on-device access to Ableton Live's Capture MIDI function. Eight Custom Modes I bought the Launchpad Pro Mk3 (Pro X) at the beginning of the year because of the introduction of chord mode. I felt this would be a really great tool for me to use to help my style of writing music and additionally I also wanted to incorporate the Launchpad into doing live sets. This was apparently a huge mistake. When using faders, these Launchpads have a higher resolution, as you can press a pad 4 times to go through 4 different values. Finally, when choosing from among the best MIDI pad controllers, there’s a host of other options worth considering beyond the pads themselves too, including screens, faders, rotaries and more. As with buying any MIDI controller, the most effective way to approach things is to work out exactly what you want to achieve using your new controller, and then consider how each device will help you do this.
