Description

The brand-new Warhammer 40,000 faction launch set includes no fewer than 25 hitherto unreleased miniatures: In the set you will get a Kahl, which can alternately be made as Uthar the Destined, an Einhyr Champion, 20 Hearthkyn warriors and 3 Hernkyn pioneers, a great start to an army with these amazing looking models, I am eagerly awaiting the release of the rest of the army (though my wallet is not). Last but not least, we have the magna-coil bike riding Hernkyn Pioneers, probably my favourite models from the set. These are quite sizeable models that come on three medium-size sprues and 90mm oval bases.

Kin society is organised around the Leagues– powerful trade and defence alliances between several Kindreds and their Holds– and the Guilds, professional organisations of technicians, merchants and engineers that unite Kin society. At the heart of every League is a Votann Ancestor Core, an immeasurably powerful and ancient artificial intelligence system that contains millennia of accumulated lore and knowledge. These cores are at the centre of the Leagues’ society, the sum total of their culture and science. There is a full set of Crusade rules for narrative campaigns and a name generator with male and female names for your Kin (Something I am happy about as my naming skills are poor). In Crusade your units hold grudges, these are gained by an enemy unit destroying one of yours and you failing an out of action test, your unit then gains a note on its crusade card stating it is holding a grudge against the opposing faction (not just the unit that destroyed it). You then gain several rules until that grudge is settled, the only way to settle a grudge is if the unit holding the grudge itself has a “units destroyed in battle” tally of 3 or more and that unit survives the battle. These are your punchy melee fighters. Cthonian Beserks wield high-tech mining equipment like heavy plasma axes and concussion mauls, which they use to destructive effect in close combat. The unit leader Theyn can be equipped with an auto-pattern bolt pistol, ion pistol or EtaCarn plasma pistol as well as a concussion gauntlet, plasma axe or plasma sword. Leagues of Votan Hearthkyn Warriors sprue 3, included twice

First – and by far most importantly – there are plenty of female-presenting heads for the new Squats. You’re not limited to having all your Squats as big beardy blokes if you don’t want them to be. As a general rule, you can spot the female-presenting heads from the male-presenting heads by their absence of beards and slightly smaller noses. This change of mind return policy is in addition to, and does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law including any rights you may have in respect of faulty items. Whichever Praetor you choose, you can upgrade their followers with a set of Death Guard MKVI Shoulder Pads. This set includes 10 resin shoulder pads for use on your Mark VI Tactical Space Marines, each bearing the Legion’s armourial. Death Guard MKVI HeadsWell-armoured and trained to excel, Hearthkyn Warriors are the mainstay of the Oathbands. Armed with Autoch-pattern bolters or ion blasters, these squads can also field a wide variety of powerful wargear, and be fielded in units of up to 20 – including Ironkin! Einhyr Hearthguard The Leagues of Votann Army Set is a collection of brand new Leagues of Votann miniatures, and marks the first chance to get your hands on the latest faction to make its presence known in the 41st Millennium. Lead your Kinhost with Ûthar the Destined – or a mighty Kâhl – supported by an Einhyr Champion, three roving Hernkyn Pioneers, and 20 Hearthkyn Warriors who can be split into two units of 10 to give you a tabletop-ready army organised into a Patrol Detachment. There are many other outlets out there more qualified to speak about rules than us, so a brief run-down of why this little table has rustled everyone’s jimmies is as follows: Leagues have an army-wide rule called Judgement of the Ancestors that allows all units to automatically wound their targets on successful hit rolls. Depending on how mad your Squats are with their foes (or, to put a fine point on it, the more Judgement Tokens assigned to a unit), the minimum value required to automatically wound their enemies drops from 6, to 5, and then to 4. The datacards and especially the token sheet will be very useful, and the transfer sheets come with symbols for each of the 5 named leagues as well as numbers and general symbols for marking out your squads (thats squads not squats). Built from the same kit asÛthar, but with a few varying weapon and bits choices, the Kâhl is your mainLeader unit, somewhat equivalent to a Space Marine captain. They’re the nominated war leader of a given Kindred (specific, named groups of Kin withina larger League).

Genetic manipulation, commerce with the Xenos… the Leagues would make a Monodominant Inquisitor’s trigger finger very twitchy. They also have secrets that would enthral and horrify the Adeptus Mechanicus. The Leagues practise the forbidden art of science. Our goal is to build upon and consolidate the great work already being done by other community members across various forums, reddit threads, and hobby blogs, and bring together a comprehensive library of all these useful Build Instruction booklets.I like the Void Armour rule as it makes units with a lower armour characteristic (like your Hearthkin troops) just that little bit more durable. With Steady Advance you lose the possibility of being able to advance up to 6″, but you have the advantage of always knowing how far you can move when advancing. The book contains a variety of stratagems and relics, as well as 6 warlord traits and 6 psychic powers. The Votannic Council rules allow you to elevate a Kahl, Grimnyr and Brokhyr Iron-master to a High Kahl, Lord Grimnyr and Brokhyr Forge-master for the required amount of points/power, each of these come with extra abilities but you can only have one of each keyword in the same army.
