Their ethos embodied a code of honour and loyalty the bushidō (way of the warrior) where a Samurai will fight to the bitter end for his master, the only option in case of a dishonourable defeat was to commit seppuku a ritualized suicide through self disembowelment by plunging a sword into the abdomen. There's a Ninja, of course. But unlike many ninjas, this is a fairly mundane and thus probably very realistic one - no flipping out and it doesn't have to be a mammal, either. A Samurai and a Ronin. A class for a thief (which I can't begin to spell), as well as artisan and ascetic. Seems to cover most bases (magical classes are covered in the 2nd product in the line). At first, it was misidentified as a Chinese manuscriptand even bound upside down. The language is Chinese, but it is a work of Japanese history, printed in Japan using an old style of wooden movable type. with a female attendant kneeling beside him while holding his katana, signed TOKUSAI RYŪGYOKU 篤斉隆玉,

Frenzied Samurais Bloodied and frenzied Samurai in an uprising, via National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne Bushi is a general word for a warrior, which is where the term bushidō comes from. The bushidō code, which literally means “the way of the warrior,” influenced a samurai’s everyday life. The samurais’ bushidō code were unwritten, unspoken rules that focused on discipline, honor, and morality. Bushidō would remain a general code of conduct for Japanese people in general, even with Japan’s later religious shifts.TRANSCENDENT SURVIVALIST: Complete a Survival mission on Gold difficulty while completing all bonus objectives This made him a threat to Oda Nodabunaga’s efforts at conquest and his de facto successor, Tokugawa Ieyasu. James Lord Bowes a noted collector and philanthropist from Liverpool acquired a large collection of Japanese artefacts and became a passionate advocate of Japanese culture by writing many books on the subject. Second the flavor of these martial arts and feats is second to none. The feel authentic and cinematic while maintaining game balance. In Legends of the Samurai, Hiroaki Sato confronts both the history and the legend of the samurai, untangling the two to present an authentic picture of these legendary warriors. Through his masterful translations of original samurai tales, laws, dicta, reports, and arguments accompanied by insightful commentary, Sato chronicles the changing ethos of the Japanese warrior from the samurai's historical origins to his rise to political power. A fascinating look at Japanese history as seen through the evolution of the samurai, Legends of the Samurai stands as the ultimate authority on its subject. In 1951 he donated his estate to the National Trust and continued to live there until his death in 1956. The American railroad car manufacturer Charles Long Freer (1854-1919) started his collection in 1887, and made several trips to Japan between 1894 and 1911 purchasing over 2000 works of Japanese art. Provenance: Michael Tomkinson Collection (1841-1921) “A Japanese Collection” by M. TomkinsonBefore the age of 20, he’d distinguished himself by fighting ferociously in several battles and walking out unharmed each time. He’d also begun his tradition of wandering the country and seeking out(then murdering)anyone who was regarded as a master of the sword. He even single-handedly destroyed a famous clan of swordsmen, the Yoshioka family, in a series of duels. The last of those saw Musashi cut through dozens of men after the Yoshioka family sprung a trap. Worn down by fruitless fighting, it is said that Yukimura told the enemy soldiers: “I am Sanada Nobushige, no doubt an adversary quite worthy of you, but I am exhausted and can fight no longer. Go on, take my head as your trophy.” When a retained defected to the rival Ashina clan, he hunted him down, casting aside alliances and conquering lands as he hunted down the man he viewed as a traitor. After this campaign, he fought many battles with his neighbors.

These classes capture the flavor of most Samurai movies very well. They are a bit more powerful on the whole the core D&D classes but this is a low magic item setting so its fits. I espcially like the fact that each class gets a cool ability per level. Her story and skill have been the focus of books, video games, manga, and more over the years, enshrining her in Japanese pop culture. In 1853 Commander Matthew Perry of the US Navy led his fleet into Yokohama harbour demanding the opening of the trading routes and diplomatic relations with Japan.
