None of it made sense, there were too many characters that appeared out of the blue and then seemingly never existed (where did tim go?) and by the end i’d practically forgotten what had happened at the beginning for them to even end up there.

During reading I did some googling as I was trying to understand the period it was set, and found this was a tv series starring Helen Mirren years ago! I hope it was better than this book and that played the Jane character in a better way than she was portrayed here. Clean Cut: This is the third novel in the “Anna Travis” series and was released in the year 2007. James Langton is hunting some illegal immigrants who killed a young prostitute; he is ruthless in his search for them. One of the immigrants almost kills him, and Anna bears most of the frustrations he has and helps get his wounds healing. All the while, she puts her own career, not to mention life, on hold for him. However, and believe me I hate to leave a negative review, but wow; there was very little I enjoyed of this book. An array of players from trade and publishing gathered at The Delaunay in London on March 9th 2023 to celebrate Lynda La Plante’s 80th birthday and toast the announcement of her dazzling new memoir. The brief storyline with the weed was so so so unneeded and began with ooh whats Eddie hiding and ended abruptly a chapter later, why?

I also doubt this book was ever proof read considering the amount of mistakes i noticed while reading! When the book starts, body number seven is found, same method, but the killer has killed a sweet young student. Anna finds a piece of information that links the killings to a much loved (not to mention well known) actor. The “Anna Travis” series was made into a series, that La Plante wrote and produced. Ciaran Hinds and Kelly Reilly starred. BEST LYNDA LA PLANTE BOOKS

Over the last few years, I have had a great time getting through the amazing Tennison series by iconic crime fiction author Lynda La Plante. A prequel series to the Prime Suspect television series, the Tennison books follows a younger version of Prime Suspect’s protagonist, Jane Tennison, as she works her way up the ranks while investigating several intriguing crimes. There have been some awesome books in this series so far, including Good Friday, Murder Mile, The Dirty Dozen, Blunt Force and Unholy Murder, each of which is worth a read, especially for fans of the original show. I managed to get through the eighth book in the series, Dark Rooms, last year, and it is high time I wrote a review for it, especially as the next Tennison thriller is out just around the corner. What was the point of the investigation? The family history was so all over the place and by the end of the book the whole thing seemed like a waste of time.

Lawrence, Ben (2 March 2017). "Tougher than Jane Tennison? How Lynda la Plante made crime pay". The Telegraph . Retrieved 1 July 2022. I always devour books by Lynda La Plante and 'Dark Rooms' was no exception. As well as the core investigation per novel, this series is as much about Jane's life and career. Lynda has teased both ninth and tenth books, which may bring the series full circle as we approach 'Prime Suspect'. I love this series and always enjoy the evolution of Jane's character - it was very exciting to see her once again take a step forward in career with her promotion. I cannot wait to see what is next in store for DI Tennison. Lynda La Plante on her sixth young Tennison novel and hopes to revive Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren". The Irish News. 17 February 2021 . The trip to Australia - how utterly utterly unnecessary. In the time period it’s set, surely this was a huge expense, and whilst international phone calls were expensive too, they would have been a damn sight cheaper than sending two coppers over for 36 hours. So so strange. On the upside we got to see loads more entitled and judgemental attitude from Jane, so that was delightful. Her breakthrough came in 1983 when she created and wrote the six-part robbery series Widows for Thames Television. The plot concerned the widows of four armed robbers carrying out a heist planned by their deceased husbands. A second series of Widows followed in 1985, while a sequel She's Out took up the story ten years later. Only 57? Lynda La Plante used to be older than me, says Robinson, 59" The Daily Telegraph (8 February 2004). Retrieved 8 December 2009. Speaking of, since when is it ok to discuss the minutiae of your case with non police, Jane? Extremely unprofessional, and for an obnoxious, overbearing, pompous character like our “heroine”, I would have expected professionalism. How is a main character so awful?? Genuine question because I as the reader should surely be on her side? But she is impatient, irritable, downright rude a lot of the time, pompous, judgemental, and snobby. I don’t think I’ve ever read a character I disliked as much.
