Hasbro gave us a heads-up during PulseCon that we’ll be flooded with X-Men Legends figures next year in honor of the 60th Anniversary of the X-Men in 2023, but they weren’t quite finished with 2022 just yet either! The 2022 X-Men Marvel Legends Retro series will be arriving this winter, and includes six new (or at least new-ish) comics-based figures… MARVEL UNIVERSE IN 6-INCH SCALE: Look for other Hasbro Marvel Legends Series figures with Marvel Comics-inspired characters (Additional figures each sold separately. Subject to availability.) A firebird flying across the stars, the Phoenix bonded with Jean Grey. And though she burned up in flames, she’ll live to soar another day. This Retro 375 Collection figure has premium design, detail, and articulation for posing and display in a Marvel collection.

This time, Jamie Madrox is in his early green costume that I remember from the all-time classic Fallen Angels limited series and other vintage comic books. The now-familiar trench coat isn’t part of this look, so this Madrox will be a bit more poseable. Cyclops, whose real name is Scott Summers, is another key member of the X-Men. He has the ability to emit powerful energy blasts from his eyes, which he controls using a special visor. The Cyclops action figure in this set is designed with his signature blue and yellow X-Men uniform and includes his iconic ruby-quartz visor.

INSPIRED BY MARVEL COMICS: This Marvel Legends Classic Dark Phoenix figure features deco inspired by her iconic appearances from Marvel Comics! Dark Phoenix having fists to engage in brawls felt awkward to me, so I’m pleased to get the interchangeable splayed hands. The fists make little sense to me unless Jean’s going to fly around Superman-style for some reason. X-Men Legends Retro Dark Phoenix gets alternate hands and a cool (albeit reused) translucent Phoenix effect as accessories. A quality release sure to do well for Hasbro. To make her look appropriately evil, Dark Phoenix comes with heavily shaded eyes and an extremely dark wash on her hair. I think both might be applied a bit excessively, but your highlighting preferences may vary.
