About this deal

Anyway if you want to have the mass and the rich sound like has this version, go and get the "Elektra" 1st press that comes on a single LP and it's more cheap more natural/clean as a pressing and also has the better mastering in my opinion.

Trapped Under Ice": that riff is cool, and it is nice to have a solo at the beginning rather than the end, and an excellent thrash solo at that, and as good as this song is, the intensity starts to fade a great deal halfway through the song, like, a lot. 2/5 This is good LP version to listen the album in 2016. It comes from the original masters and is cut from "Chris Bellman". So it seems they tried to release one decent remasted version and respected the big and legendary name of the album. Not their best. Make no mistake, this is a great, highly ambitious album that certainly has its moments, but as the follow up to Kill Em All, it is rather underwhelming. Deluxe box set includes 4LPs/6CDs/1-DVD with bonus book, mini book with handwritten lyrics, and poster set. I remember when the first riff of "Fight fire with fire" came in. I was really terrified of the power of music. The power of music literally demolished my room. Such a power only from "Elektra of 84" and from "MFN 45 RPM" i had listen. This is an incredible version to listen and the enjoy the album for many reasons. First of all it's very easy to find with logical price but the most important is the sound quality. It was mastered with "Direct Metal Mastering" like the "MFN" 45 RPM reissue of 87 but in this version, the album comes in a single LP (another benefit). Also it sounding different. The sound is litte bit more darker from "MFN" 45 RPM version with more mass and remind you more the "Elektra reissue of 84" which is my favorite version of the album. This version has the depth like the "Elektra" and some dark atmosphere. Also the instruments are very natural and the music can fill your space very easily. You feel them in your face like they playing music in your roam.

Fight Fire With Fire": That acoustic intro belongs on a power metal album, and definitely not the opening to this song. The rest of this song is pure thrash metal, and pretty much the only pure thrash metal song on this album. If the entire album sounded like this, that'd be great, but no. 5/5

All these years i see many comments on the interent and the most of the people said that this pressing is the best of the album. But if you have not the vinyl you can't know if that is true or not because many people always say that the 1st pressing is the best no matter what. So i suggest you to get the awesome and clean "European" version that was made from the same mastering plants at "Masterdisk" and ignore this one unless you are collector like me. This pressing seems much more noisy with more distortions here and there in the all songs. In some songs barely you can listen the music and if we compare it with the "European" version, this is much worst version to own. I have it in "NM" condition and i can heard many distortions on the songs. Finally I got my opinion and surely this pressing it sound very different from any other version I have listen the album in my life. And that it's logical because was mastered by "Tom Coyne". "MFN, Roadrunner and "Nexus" have "Tim Young" mastering and the later versions have "Bob Ludwig" mastering. Only the "Banzai Canadian" pressing has "Tom Coyne" mastering. This pressing it sound "ok" in the most part but compare it with some other classic early pressings, is weak. The music is thin without a lot of bass and mass. The "Master of Puppets" from Greece 1992 series was great pressing but "RTL", not at all. This album need the bass, need the mass and any chaos from the instruments. Here the guitars they sound with less deformation and the music suffer without bass.

Matrix/Runout:81297 1A 1̶-̶4̶2̶4̶5̶7̶2̶-̶A̶1̶ 1-424636 A RML/2 17328.1(3)·- / 81297 B 1̶-̶4̶2̶4̶5̶7̶2̶-̶B̶1̶ 1-424636 B RML/2 17328.2(3)·- Ride th Lighting" is a very dark album with amazing and big atmosphere behind. "DMM" pressings used to kill some of the depth of the albums and general the atmosphere. Also in this version the album it's not sound so dark and atmospheric. In sort not so 80s like some original pressings that i own. Fight Fire With Fire": I like to call this song `how to write metal riffs 101,' and "how not to sing thrash metal." I really do not understand this, but apparently I am the only Metallica fan that thinks Hetfield's singing sounds absolutely worthless on this song, but I have tried and tried to get used to him, and I cannot. Hetfield. Sounds. Terrible. Those solos sequel rather than shred as well. 3/5So if you do not have the money to get the "Elektra" reissue, do a favour to yourself and get one copy from this one. Then you will be able to understand how this legendary album really sounds.

All in all, if you're a fan of them and want their vinyl albums, your best choice is these "Vertigo" 2001 vinyl. They are still cheap compared to some other vinyls and have great sound quality. Anyway after so many years i finded one copy and i'm very happy for that. But here we are talking about sound quality. This pressing it's moderate in my opinion and little lifeless. You miss the truly bass of the album and the real mass. It's very thin and remind you some digital mp3 file. But i prefer this pressing over the "Master of Puppets" from South Korea series of 1989. This one has better quality overall but nothing impressive.
