About this deal

Transparent colours are influenced by the natural colour of the wood and therefore they may deviate from the sample colours. Light transparent colour tones offer only limited UV protection; therefore they are not recommended for surfaces exposed to strong sunlight. Dried surface is at first satin-glossy and then satin. To extend the life of the coating, it is recommended to apply one final top coat of Osmo UV Protection Oil Extra 420 Clear after thoroughly drying (not recommended for White 900). Many wood species contain water-soluble coloured extractives which may leach out naturally when weathered. All colour tones can be mixed with each other. Dark Walnut by Minwax is my favorite option if you want to stain oak wood dark. Dark walnut is a really rich, chocolatey brown stain color. A. Sealing wood after staining isn’t required, but it is recommended. Not only do wood finishes enhance the colour but they’ll also protect the wood from scratches and help stop it from fading. We recommend using a Wood Varnish. Vinegar helps to break down metallic compounds. Place a pad of regular (non-soapy) steel wool in a jar and cover with vinegar. Leave for about 24 hours and then remove the pad.

This stain color is what I would consider a medium tone – neither super light nor super dark – but still transparent enough to really work well on oak! A. Wood Stain is designed to penetrate into the wood and so the longer you leave it on the more it will soak in and the darker the wood will become. Wood can also only absorb so much stain before it becomes saturated and so any excess would then dry on the surface. This is why we recommend wiping the stain off after one or two minutes. We would always recommend that you test the different shades of Oak Wood Stain on a small area of the wood, before staining the entire piece. For this, our Wood Stains are available in small 15ml tester pots so you can make sure you are happy before purchasing larger sizes. About our Wood Stain.
