Description

The newer version of the Cloud Up 2 tent has a vent to help reduce condensation. My older version does not have this vent. Despite this, condensation isn’t too bad of an issue in the tent because there is a sizable gap between the fly and inner tent. INSECT PROOF - with B3 breathable mesh, you can still ventilate your tent without 10 million mosquitoes inviting themselves in for the evening.

The Naturehike Cloud Up 2 is for budget-conscious 3 season campers who don’t want to skimp on performance or quality. Tarps Looking for a tarp that can withstand the elements? Wood to Water has you covered! Our camping tarps are made of high-quality materials that can withstand most weather conditions. We also offer a variety of sizes and designs to choose from, so you can find the perfect camping tarp for your needs. As you’d expect with an ultralight tent, the Cloud Up 2 material is really thin. Mine hasn’t punctured or ripped yet, but I’m always very careful about clearing the pitch space of sharps before setting it up. And definitely use the ground sheet with the Cloud Up 2! The lightweight stakes included with the Cloud Up 2 are decent enough, but did eventually bend over time. So long as you use your groundsheet, regularly respray with a waterproof coating, and take a little care when you set up the tent, it should last for many camping adventures.I saved a little weight by getting a Geertop 20D UL footprint. Were I to be buying one today I'd get a sheet of Tyvek. This tent has a total floor space of about 36.5 square feet (3.4 sqm), including the space allocated for the vestibule, which is fairly tight. IMPORTANT MODEL NOTE: I have an older, out-of-production version. The new (current) is about 150 grams heavier, has more pole structure at the rear, a ventilation flap, and mid-fin side guys. The current version with more structure, side-stability and ventilation has some advantages over my version. Even so I remain delighted with mine and have no intention of replacing it.

Before we continue, you must be familiar with the most critical rule when purchasing a tent. The rule states that when you decide to buy a tent, always get one size larger than the number of people you are taking. For this reason, even though this tent is technically for two people, we would advise you to think of it as a single-person tent for maximum comfort.

Verdict?

HIGH QUALITY MATERIAL - Tent Fly: 15D silicon coated nylon, waterproof index: 2000mm; inner tent: 20D double grid nylon B3 breathable polyester mesh; Tent Bottom: 20D nylon Waterproof index: 4000mm; Poles: 7001 aluminum poles. Hiking Poles Hiking poles are an essential part of your camping gear, and we’ve got the best selection around! At Wood to Water, we have a range of portable camping stoves and cookers that are both easy to use, efficient and built to last. Read More >> Ventilation: Stuffy on warm and muggy nights not helped by my snow skirt version, I unzipped the front door (but kept it tabbed closed with the velcro) and that helped. On more windy nights (typical, here) everything is fine. Sadly, we were disappointed by the Naturehike Cloud UP in terms of ease of setup. To be clear, it uses a very similar structure to many of the other tents in this round up, and on a fundamental level, it’s no more difficult to setup than these, but none the less, we hit problems: the written instructions and diagrams provided with the tent were very scant and, in fact, we found the diagrams confused matters at points. As mentioned above, the tent is asymmetric in form, but there’s no coding that we could see to help correctly orient the frame over the body or the fly over the top. You’d surely get used to this if you used the tent regularly, but from the perspective of a user who is either new to camping or only camps occasionally, none of this is helpful and indeed it could cause some serious delays if you’re trying to setup the tent whilst tired or in poor weather. One thing we’d suggest any owner of the Cloud UP do is to add some colour coding to the poles and fasteners on the tent body and fly sheet to speed up the pitching process.

The Naturehike Cloud Up is a freestanding 2-layer tent meant for 3-season use. It is available in 1P, 2P and 3P sizes. That said, 3000mm will be fine for most rainy days. Just make sure to respray your tent with a waterproof coating each time the rain batters it. Liquid Fuel Stoves Explore our selection of liquid fuel stoves, perfect for outdoor trips. From burners to alcohol stoves, Trangia stoves multi-fuel cookers you’ll find everything you need to make your camping experience one to remember! Read More Note: The Cloud Up 2 will not fit two adult winter sleeping bags! Take a look at the picture below. My winter bag is so poofy that it takes up almost the entire width of the tent. My only concern would be if you are tall. Then your feet or head might touch the walls and you’d end up wet from condensation. And, as mentioned before, the Cloud Up 2 is definitely not big enough to fit two poofy winter sleeping bags! So, what’s the verdict after our first look at the Naturehike Cloud Up Tent? We went into this expecting to find a perhaps slightly lower quality (given the price) version of the Big Agnes Fly Creek. But to be honest, the quality of craftsmanship looks very impressive. I would say almost comparable to the Fly Creek itself.
