It also has intelligent parking mode that will monitor your vehicle when not in use and record any movements it detects. We recommend the official Nextbase hardwire kit for this to prevent your battery from draining. Next in the series 2 range is the 422GW. This dashcam doesn’t have a huge number of upgrades compared to the 322GW, however the one that does stand out is the camera quality. The 122 is right at the lower end of the market and is a small, compact device that comes at a budget price. It has all of the essential features you need from a dashcam, including loop recording which writes over the footage you don’t need so you never need to delete the footage. If you need to keep footage, you can manually save it or the built in G-sensor can detect crashes and protect footage for you. For the camera nerds, the 422GW has a better lens which has an f/1.3 aperture as opposed to f/1.6. Essentially, this means that more light enters the camera. That extra adjustment does have a big impact on the quality, especially under darker lighting.

Nextbase dash cams are designed in the UK, with key focuses on video quality and ease of use. Nextbase began their journey providing a wide range of in-car technology products including DVD Players, before moving onto dash cams and in-car safety products.

Unlike many other devices, the power cable actually connects to the mount itself rather than the camera. It uses a micro USB port on the side of the mount and then plugs into the auxiliary/cigarette lighter port on the car itself. It means that, unfortunately, you may find yourself unable to use a GPS alongside the camera as these tend to utilise the same port to power themselves. However, if you’re someone who uses a smartphone to navigate anyway, this won’t be an issue. a) Before you start, you'll need to mount the SD or micro SD card on your Mac. If you have a Mac with an SD card slot, use that. If not, you’ll need an SD card adapter. Nextbase’s middle-of-the-road option (pardon the pun) is the 322GW. The camera hardware of the 322GW are similar to the 222 with a 1080p resolution, 140 viewing angle and a 2.5” screen, although this has been upgraded to a touch screen. The 622GW is the only dashcam in the range to feature a resolution of 4k, this allows for really crisp videos and you’ll be able to identify signs, faces and reg plates with ease. Another upgrade you’ll find in the 622GW that wasn’t features in the 522GW is digital image stabilization, this works much like it does on high end DSLR cameras to digitally make videos smoother and iron out the bumps.

It is essential that you format your SD card every 2-3 weeks to delete the Protected filed and free up space on your memory card for new recordings. The 422GW has a camera resolution of 1440p, more commonly known as 2k. Whilst the camera does also offer 60fps, you will need to keep the resolution at 1080p to utilise this. The device, rather unexpectedly, also comes with a parking mode. This uses the G-Sensor to detect an impact even when stationary, and switch on the device’s recording mode to (hopefully) catch a glimpse of whoever or whatever hit your vehicle. Unfortunately, the battery life of the 112 is only around 30 minutes, so it will struggle to stay alive long enough to make this mode really count. They follow the same pattern as the series 1 range, with 6 devices covering every segment of the market from the budget 122 up to the highest spec 622GW. One obvious indication that the 112 is a budget device is the video resolution it uses for recording. Where the 512GW boasts 1440p resolution, the 112 drops right down to 720p – 1280 x 720 pixels. This is basically a quarter as many pixels, so you won’t get anywhere near the detail, even under the best of conditions. Overall, it’s very easy to set this device up, and the design is both functional and logical. [aawp fields=”B01N3SN68T” value=”button”] a>

The Nextbase 522GW Dash Cam has all the benefits of the 422GW, plus a polarising filter that provides unbeatable picture quality to give you a superior dash cam experience. The polarising filter is an anti-glare upgrade to dramatically reduce windscreen reflections and record clearer images in direct sunlight. b) Stop it recording by pressing the red circle in the bottom left hand corner of the dash cam's screen. Regarding the recording lengths, the camera will record continuously in small segments (1,2, or 3 minutes). It will record these segments consecutively until the SD card is full. Then the oldest piece of footage will be deleted and the newest will be saved in it's place. This will continue looping and is called Continuous Overwriting. The Dash Cam does this automatically to allow for more footage to be recorded and the old, unnecessary footage to be deleted without manual intervention. However Protected footage is not overwritten in the same way. These can fill the card and reduce the quantity of normal footage saved on your SD card. product/helpAdviseTab.hbs -->
