About this deal

In terms of size, the stove is 10 inches wide, 18 inches long, and 26 inches tall (with its legs on). Weighing 24 lbs, it’s heavier than most cook tent stoves, but its design makes it nonetheless small and portable. When not in use, all of its parts conveniently fit inside the stove. Keep an eye on your fuel source the entire time you’re cooking. For butane, you want to get by with using as little as possible while still effectively cooking, since butane canisters are a very finite resource during survival situations. So here was my testing criteria for the ultimate showdown between the Lite and the Ohuhu. I didn’t take it easy.

Stove Box Design: The design should allow easy addition of fuel. With stoves like the TOMSHOO Camping Wood Stove, you can easily add wood without the need to remove your cookware. There are many factors that go into choosing the right wood-burning stove for your camping trips. You ideally want a stove that adapts to your style of camping and will not break apart after one season. Ease of Assembly and Cleaning: A stove that’s cumbersome to assemble or clean can diminish the camping experience. Models like the Unigear Wood Burning Camp Stove score points here due to their easy disassembly.

Swift | Silent | Deadly

The next stove up in the Survival Cooking series is the Ohuhu camp stove (also available under other brand names). This is a unique stove in that it is designed to burn wood. With very non-specific fuel this is a very, very flexible option. It does, however, have it downsides. Let’s get into it. I bought this with a Solo Camp Stove (I know in my Solo review I said three years ago, but it actually isn't quite two). It is stainless steel, hasn't rusted yet, and it maintained its shape. I have not used it on a camping/hiking trip yet because I either forgot it or fire bans prevented its use. That’s because on paper, one of them looks like the clear winner. But it’s a different story in the real world. Don’t miss the last section where I share my surprising experience with both. The one I thought was going to win failed miserably! Hot ashes can still fall around the edges and get underneath your Ohuhu, so you need to clear out flammable debris from the area you plan to place it on. Most people overlook this, but it’s important. Ohuhu lists information about this in the manual. First of all I hate to give this 5 stars as it is made in PRC. But have to give this stove its props. In many buses and circumstances it is better than the Solo stove which costs 3-4x more. Note, not in all ways though.

Gas ONE included an automatic shutoff feature that activates when there’s an irregular flow of butane being supplied to the burner. Fuel Source: Designed for natural biomass fuels like twigs, leaves, pine cones, and small wood pieces, eliminating the need for fuel canisters.

Renewable Resource: With the increasing emphasis on sustainable living, wood burning stoves offer an eco-conscious way of cooking. Wood, being a renewable resource, ensures that your outdoor adventures don’t add to environmental degradation.
