I wanted to see more from the potential fall out with relationships–to see where things would go, to see how this character would deal with things going forward, but I didn’t get to see that. Despite it, though, One Day With You was an amazing and thought-provoking experience, with a lens inside of the human condition. It was a definite five-star experience! One Day With You is an intensely emotional read featuring, amongst other things, infidelity, death, dementia, and second-chance love. A bizarre mix, but it mostly works. It is told from the points of view of Tress, Max, Noah and Nancy, the bulk of the story taking place over a twenty four hour period. Sighing, I leaned forward, setting my elbows on my knees. Yet again, I went with the truth. “I know it’s unprofessional to cut out like this, but… I’ve got to rearrange my priorities and right now…. I just can’t give this my full attention, Mark. I’m sorry.”

While I had a pretty good idea of where Max was headed, and I also had a feeling about the secrets Anya (in the book, Noah’s wife is named Anya, not Mya, as the synopsis indicates) is keeping, what happens when it is all revealed is earth-shattering. It leaves the reader with many questions that are answered and revealed little by little over the course of the book, keeping you engaged. I didn’t want to stop reading, in an effort to get to the truth. Noah Clark and his wife Anya seem to be having marriage troubles. Noah isn’t sure if he should share his concerns with his best friend, Max, until he can sort out his emotions. Soon, he uncovers a secret that shatters his heart and emotions. I knew what to expect when I requested the book. I wasn’t looking for a fresh theme/ topic. I was only curious to see how the author executed it.So as much as I would like to say that the addictive writing and wonderful characters, plus emotionally tinged plotlines got me - they only did for the first half. Rest of the half was spent debating whether I should hurl myself out of this room and into a cave to cry and be frustrated for forever, or throw the book into outer space. I’d barely set my phone down on the break room counter to get a cup of coffee when it started ringing. My dad’s handsome face lit up the screen, his photo showing off the gray eyes I had inherited from him. I felt sorry for Noah – he is a kind and loyal friend, and deeply in love with his wife. The events of the day shatter him but the beauty of bringing a new life into the world is a glimmer of light. At the same time, Max’s best friend Noah Clark said goodbye to his wife, Anya, blissfully oblivious that he would soon discover the woman he adored had been lying to him for years. The story takes place over the course of one day and is broken into two hour intervals and told from various POV and is absolutely heartbreaking and painful and there are several triggers but it is well written and does have a happy ending. Shari Low's ONE DAY WITH YOU is a highly emotional, gripping journey of One day. 24 Hours. Two couples. Five people who will have their lives changed. There are bits of humor that may or may not be funny but do their job to lighten the situation. Tress, Noah, Nancy, and Val deal with different issues in their own ways, so the jokes kept things light when they go too heavy.
