Description

The basic design of the OneOdio A10 is that of a typical pair of over-ear headphones, with large earcups, made from 'true protein memory foam'. There's padding on the silicon headband, and it's ratcheted to allow up to 35cm of adjustment to fit different-sized heads. They're also fairly light so feel really comfortable to wear. The OneOdio A10s use a slimmed-down over-ear type of fit. The ear cups just fit around the outside of my ears, so if you have larger ears, these may turn into on-ear headphones. For me, the comfort was still nice after two hours, especially since the headphones are fairly lightweight. If you have larger ears, you may not be as comfortable.

Treble is quite emphasised, with multiple peaks that make it aggressive. The peaks are concentrated in the lower and middle regions, so they are often very audible. Detail is very limited, with cymbals often sounding like a mash of sounds rather than like individual hits. Final Thoughts The problem with the sound with ANC on is that the upper midrange and treble are too boosted and therefore too harsh. There are a few omissions and areas of improvement - app support being the main one, ANC could be a little stronger, transparency mode could be a little more natural, and arguably the +- button orientation would have been better the other way around, but these are very minor quibbles, and there's nothing stopping OneOdio from adding app support in the future - fingers crossed! You also get a no-fuss zip-around carry case in the box, which although hardly beautiful or luxurious fulfils its protective brief splendidly. The earcups on both sides rotate inwards and fold flat to fit the case, minimising their day bag or suitcase footprint. Crank up the volume on an album like Robyn’s “Bodytalk Part 1” and the A10s are in their element, the pumping bass coming across hard and clear.

Specs of the OneOdio A10

The OneOdio A10 feature the Bluetooth 5.0 standard together with the SBC and AAC codecs. The connection is stable, but it doesn’t offer a wide range. We recently reviewed OneOdio's dedicated studio-oriented wired headphones, the Monitor 60. They were strictly for listening to audio in the old-school way. Moreover, the imaging is also quite good but not pinpoint accurate. There are some blurry spots in between channels, but nothing that would ruin your listening experience. OneOdio A30 Frequency Response The default tuning is great, however, the occasional sibilance can be too much for more sensitive users. Bouncing around my music library it soon became obvious that the A10s shine in Pop, R&B and Dance rather than Jazz, Folk or Classical. It’s very much a case of being better at some genres rather than being bad at others, though. Coltrane’s “Love Supreme” still sounded good, as did Myrkur’s outstanding new album “Folkesange”. On the flip side, there’s no mention of multi-point connection, so you can’t expect these to be connected to multiple devices such as a phone or laptop. Battery Life

So I ended up testing the headphones for probably over about 50+ hours worth of use in total. Not because I wanted to test it for this long for this particular review, but because I just kept using it as my headphones for daily use. So you could say that this pair of headphones has become my ‘go-to’ headset outside of product reviewing. Who would have guessed? Bass is to the fore, although sometimes just a little woolly but there’s plenty of detail to be heard as long as the source is good. For controls, the Life Q30 primarily rely on physical buttons located on the outer sections of both earcups. On the left cup you’ll find the power button along with the “NC” button, which cycles through the three sound modes on offer: normal, transparency and noise-cancelling. Also, you have an ANC button that always goes into a passive mode (off) whenever coming from ANC or transparency mode; hence, you cannot switch between these two extremes with a single button press; you require two.

What We Like

It retains control and speed, but it’s much quieter. You can still hear some rumble, but only when you truly focus on what you’re listening to. Midrange Welcome to the @regancipher review of OneOdio's over-ear hybrid ANC headphones, the upgraded for 2022 Focus A10. With the glut of TWS passing through the RC test bench, it has been a while since I've documented a review of a wired/wireless headphone here at Headfi - the last ones being the Soundcore Q series and Tronsmart Apollo Q10 - but the competitive price and impressive feature set definitely catch the eye with the A10, and with OneOdio being a specialist over-ear vendor, rather than a TWS manufacturer going off on a tangent, this has been a review I've been really looking forward to doing, having put the product rigorously through it's paces over the course of the last few weeks.

Having both wired and wireless functionality is always appreciated, for those times when you leave home only to realise that you've forgotten to charge the headphones; for those long trips away from civilisation when battery life might not be sufficient; or simply to enjoy the best sound possible. A wired connection still trumps Bluetooth audio and will probably continue to best it for quite some time. When you've got big-sounding, punchy, clear 40mm drivers capable of satisfactorily reproducing Hi-Res Audio, as you have with these A10s, you might well opt to listen wired more often. These headphones feature a mostly plastic build but with a metal headband, which gives them much more hope for longevity. They may be built out of plastic, but they don't look it, with a metallic look on much of the outside casing that fits nicely with the actual metal of the headband.

Packaging & Accessories

Onto the audio, and as you can see from the graph, OneOdio have gone with a very upper-mid-centric 'monitor-style' tuning which favours a clean, lean sound signature, giving prominence to female vocals and instruments with a very gentle and lightweight lower frequency response.
