Angus takes a dainty sip then turns slightly to face him. The man has the charisma of a lizard, thinks Grogan. Those still, unblinking eyes, the leathered skin, cold gaze.” Is 30,000 words enough for a non-fiction book? 30,000 words might be enough for a shorter non-fiction book, such as a guide, memoir, or self-help book. Patricia Wolf does a good job here of building tension & the chapters written form the villains perspective are particularly strong & have a rather punchy tone to them. Let down only by perhaps some poorly written parts, where the prose & language becomes a little too rushed and familiar, losing the tonality set by the rest of the novel.

I enjoyed both Lucas Walker's and Barbara's characters. They complemented one another. Walker is on compassionate leave as his grandmother is dying. I loved the close relationship he has with her. And I enjoyed the way the Walker family embraced and supported Barbara. This isn't a 'whodunit' as the story unfolds from multiple viewpoints: Walker's, Barbara's, Rita's and the abductor's being the main ones. The book ends on a bit of a cliffhanger and I will be interested to see what direction future books in this series will take. With multiple new and previously introduced characters, Wolf then delivers a satisfying, way above-average police procedural full of interesting characters and plots and does well in breathing life into her characters – even the villains. Not only that, Wolf’s writing again exhibits a wonderfully smooth style that clearly feeds the anticipation of the arrival of her future work. Rod Moss is an artist and long term Alice resident with many Arrernte (pronounced AR-run-DUH) friends amongst those living at Whitegate Camp.

Estimating the word count of a book can vary depending on several factors such as genre, target audience, writing style, and font size. However, a rough estimation can be made using some common guidelines. What is considered a long book? A long book can have over 150,000 words or more, and it often falls into the epic or high fantasy category. How many books does the average person read? The number of books the average person reads can vary significantly from individual to individual. Some people may read a few books a year, while others may read much more. That romanticized view of Australia may not be strictly accurate, but then again, we are talking fiction here. And in fiction, both the author and the reader are engaging their creativity and imagination. Perhaps a foreign yet familiar setting allows American readers a little more freedom in what they imagine. The plot is intense in Paradise and revolves around bikkie gangs, drugs and greed! Another gripping read and I also rated Paradise as a 5-star read.

How many words is a 2-hour book? The word count of a book cannot be accurately determined based solely on its duration. The word count varies widely based on factors like writing style, font size, and formatting. Doctor Adam Gilmore touches the lives of his patients, but his own scars mean he can never let a woman touch his heart.

But that leaves two questions unanswered: Why are so many of the new wave of Australian crime books set in the bush? And why do they appeal to Americans? Why are so many of the new wave of Australian crime books set in the bush? And why do they appeal to Americans? Emma Viskic’s Resurrection Bay and And Fire Came Down are multi-award winning books, also available in the US. Gritty, unapologetic and at times violent, their depiction of Australian society pulls no punches. Her hero, Caleb Zelic is brilliant, simultaneously tough and vulnerable, a perpetual outsider due to his deafness, trying to come to terms with his past while working as private investigator.I have met many Americans who hold an almost nostalgic view of Australia, even those who have never been here; they see it as a more innocent version of the US, like America used to be. They often warn me: “Don’t do this or that, or you will end up like us.” In Coorah Creek, a town on the edge of nowhere, you’re judged by what you do, not what people say about you. But when the harshest judge is the one you see in the mirror, there’s nowhere left to hide. Heist by Robert Schofield Despite the absence of Barbara Guerrera in a physical presence, the hope for a reunion with Walker adds an emotional layer to the narrative, leaving readers eager for the next instalment. "Paradise" is a masterfully crafted continuation of DS Walker's adventures, maintaining the series' momentum and leaving fans eagerly anticipating the next chapter in Walker's journey. As the number of days the couple are missing climbs, DS Walker is joined by the girl's sister. A detective herself from Berlin, she is desperate to find her before it's too late. I think for many Americans, Australia is simultaneously familiar and exotic. You see us almost as cousins, with a similar history, culture and language.

Is 20,000 words too short for a book? 20,000 words might be considered short for a full-length book, but it could still be suitable for novellas, short stories, or certain non-fiction works. Ford laid his fingertips gently on the cut in his shoulder where the bullet had clipped him. His best chance would be to hitch a ride south at the first opportunity, before the police started looking for him. He was alone, enveloped in the monstrous silence of the desert. Free and alone, without assistance and without excuse.’ How many writers actually finish a book? Many aspiring writers start writing books but never finish them. The number of writers who complete and publish a book is lower compared to those who begin the writing process. There were several times when I thought I’d already read a sentence or a scene, as if in the edit, a paragraph or a thought was supposed to be moved, but instead was accidentally copied and pasted. Are books single or double-spaced? Books are typically single-spaced, which means there is no extra space between lines of text. Double-spacing is more common in manuscripts or drafts. Is 20,000 words too short for a book? 20,000 words might be considered short for a full-length book but could be suitable for novellas, short stories, or certain non-fiction works. The novel opens with a horrific home invasion involving two parents and their eight-year-old daughter, Gabby, in Gold Coast, Queensland. To me, the most appealing aspect of these books is Walker himself. He’s someone who is strong enough to carry off the role he’s assigned but with enough frailties and worries to hold a reader’s interest. Aside from my regard for the lead man, the tale itself bumps along at a decent pace but without ever really introducing anyone or anything that piqued my interest to the same degree. It's all fairly routine and really offers up few surprises, as Walker helps the local cops investigate a brutal home invasion murder.
