When it comes to corded chainsaws there are quite a few options, especially since this is the most common type of chainsaw there is, and it was a bit difficult to consider which ones to go for. Battery powered chainsaws are on the rise whereas petrol are on the decline, and yet electric sits nicely in the middle with a lot of reliable and efficient options on offer. So, after a good look and a few tests of the ones that appealed to me the most, it became clear that this OREGON electric chainsaw was the best option there is for corded chainsaws…and here’s why. Chainsaw Boots: you need a pair of steel-toed boots to protect your feet from heavy pieces of wood that might fall on them. It comes with 38 CC, 2-stroke engine, so delivers tons of power – 1.4 k/w is plenty for a 14 inch bar Starting a chainsaw can sometimes be a frustrating process, so I was delighted to find that this chainsaw started first time every time, no matter whether it was warm or cold. That said, I did still press the priming bubble before turning the chainsaw on – it didn’t seem to push the petrol through properly, but, thankfully, this didn’t really matter since the chainsaw was so easy to get going. The bar has a length of 40 cm (15.7 inches) which should be more than enough to take down an unwanted small garden tree or for any other jobs around your house.

Either way, it’s designed to be a heavy duty chainsaw as well as having 5 star engine specs (EURO stats), so it’s no surprise it has a solid amount of power. I will say though it is up around the same weight petrol chainsaws, at just short of 7kg and was noticeably heavier than the cordless battery models I tested which is to be expected, so it might struggle a bit more with long periods of use. It’s starts up relatively easy to due to the decompression system – and it does actually work! Here’s a look at how you prep and start one from the manufacturer: Finally, it’s worth mentioning that, when you pull the trigger, the choke automatically comes off, which prevents you from flooding the engine. Although not a safety feature related to the user, this does help to keep the engine safe, therefore prolonging the lifespan of the machine. For a start, at 4.7kg it is comparatively lightweight and this allows you to wield it for longer without feeling fatigued. What weight there is, is also well distributed and this adds up to a petrol chainsaw that is easier to handle than most. When compared to the Parker brand 62cc model, this Husqvarna has less vibration, and runs quieter. I also noticed that it was a little better when it came to fuel consumption too, but that is to be expected with a smaller sized engine. The 38cc air injected engine on this petrol chainsaw produces 2HP, which is a decent amount of power for a smaller model, and is more than enough for most light gardening cutting. I wouldn’t even attempt to use it for larger logs and more heavy-duty work, but that’s fine as this product’s isn’t designed for that, unlike its big brother which is also featured further down this list. In the interests of being unbiased I would like to run through some of the positives of this cheapest electric chainsaw for sale: Here at ParkerBrand we listen to our customers – amazing how many places don’t isn’t it? So, when plenty of people started asking for a chainsaw that had more power and scope than the nippy top handled PCS-2600 but didn’t want the larger ParkerBrand PCS-6200 that is capable of some seriously heavy work we put the design bods to task with your needs as the brief. Ta da! The ParkerBrand PCS-4500 came out of the workshop - after a lot of tea and the boss’s biscuits went in! In our final spot is a slightly more compact cordless chainsaw, which costs lower end and is by a relatively unknown brand, is still a powerful enough saw and has a blade length of 30cm! I was fairly surprised by this and so I had to try it out, and whilst it doesn’t have the power capability of the Ryobi, its still good quality and performs well enough to cut wood efficiently and with power. No matter how well-designed or powerful a chainsaw may be, this doesn’t mean anything unless that chainsaw is also easy and convenient to use. Fortunately, this ParkerBrand chainsaw couldn’t have been more comfortable to handle, even for long periods of time.

This Makita cordless chainsaw features a battery capacity warning lamp. This means that whenever the battery capacity decreases under a certain limit, the motor automatically stops, and you get reminded to change the battery by a solid light. There’s one warning lamp for each battery. Price is a difficult one – you can get a cheap petrol chainsaw like the Petrol Chainsaw Chain for the same money as the OREGON Electric Chainsaw. Obviously petrol is higher quality but is it more useable? I would personally rather be making the cut with the Oregon – it can take an absolute beating and therefore in my mind the cheaper of the two. Oregon really can work hard for the money: Oregon electric chainsaws can really work hard for the money Looking for an easy-to-use petrol chainsaw that can handle light cutting around the house? That’s what this small petrol chainsaw is designed for; perfect for anyone looking for an easy-to-use and reliable chainsaw.

Before we really get into the review much further I would like to highlight one important thing – chainsaw safety. If you don’t have appropriate clothing then chainsaw boots and chainsaw trousers will really make a difference! Best chainsaws – I love Stihl but a bit pricey for home garden use
