Description

This one was also more gorey, a big part of that being thanks to those awesome death traps. I really do appreciate it though since it is a war and it’s actually realistic so you feel the weight of it more. I just finished reading book two and it only gets worse. Illogical choices, not talking to people, plot holes. I will stop here.

Lasgol and his buddies are making every effort they can to pass their third year of instruction, where tests change from the practical competitions to some real missions where they have to risk their own lives. Rivalries, conflicts, and love are going to emerge a lot more strongly than ever.

Snowdon Ranger Path – Llwybr Cwellyn

I've generally enjoyed the 'Ranger' theme in SF Fantasy. It's almost become a sub-genre of it's own. However, I'm not a big fan with the 'coming of age', but if well written and good subplots....I can enjoy. Uthar gathers up his armies together and gets ready to repel him. Not all the Norghanian nobles are with this King. The Western League doesn’t support him, as they want to regain the crown for the West and for the Olafstones. Pedro delivers a novel with a plot that is tremendous, and characters that are relatable and engaging. Some readers found this to be well written, without any boring parts and was interesting the entire way through.

The King has summoned all the leaders of the Rangers to a Great Council in the capital to discuss the problem of the Dark Rangers. Lasgol and Astrid are traveling to Count Malason’s estate on a mission for Egil, stopping briefly at Lasgol’s home. Viggo and Ingrid are assigned to the Ranger escort for the five Elder Elite Specialists of the Shelter to the Council meeting. While Egil and Gerd have been assigned to the group escorting the traitor Eyra to Norghania, tasked to make sure she arrives alive. None of them are happy about the Kings involvement in what is supposed to be just for the leaders of the Rangers, but they have no say in it. I don't want to say too much so as to give anything away. But I believe that you will love this book and its characters (Perhaps even the hard headed ones or the ones you wouldn't imagine interacting with in real life) Multiple povs so I didn’t only have to read from Lasgol’s pov thank God! (in fact I feel like the majority was Egil’s with maybe Viggo coming next so that’s even better). With the team splitting up the way they were it was nice to see what the others where up to even if their tasks didn’t really connect. Plus it saved me from having to read about Lasgol and Astrid “kissing with so much passion it left him breathless”. The war has heated up quite a bit and the east is on the verge of defeating the west. This puts the friends Ina difficult position and I keep hoping that the friends will remain as is and be able to protect each other.

I went on a long rant in there about all the reasons I only think this is a three star story, but I do plan to read more in the series as the story is overall very interesting, so I'd say this is more like a 3.5/5 to me. I feel like there are a lot of questions that are left unanswered and they will probably be answered later on, which I think is fine. I started to read this because I wanted to read something along the lines of the Ranger's Apprentice books that I read in middle school. I really love Ranger stories and I look forward to seeing where this can go. The series stars Lasgol, who is a fifteen year old boy whose dad was the leader of the King’s Rangers. However, Lasgol is now an orphan, and he is universally despised, since his father is an infamous traitor who died while trying to murder the king he had sworn to protect. All his possessions have been seized and Lasgol survives as servant to a ill-natured old soldier, while being the victim of all kind of mistreatment from the people who despise him. I personally found the Dark Rangers and how they worked really interesting. Which speaking of them— Mysteries from like the past 5 books have finally wrapped up. The assassination attempts and the Dark Rangers being two of many. Of course there’s still Camu and that frozen dragon so we’ll see how those unfold. Will Lasgol and his friends unmask the true traitor? Will they survive the fourth year of instruction and the war and graduate as Rangers?

Are Lasgol and his buddies going to survive their second year of training? Are they going to survive the war? Is he going to succeed in solving all the mysteries surrounding him? Is he going to find out the betrayals and who the true enemy is? His other passion is reading. He defines himself as a fan of epic fantasy, science fiction and thrillers. Something else he is passionate about is running. He runs along the river in Bilbao near the Guggenheim Museum as an escape from all these ideas, although mostly to relax. Is Lasgol going to survive this first year of instruction at the Rangers’ Camp? Or is he going to find out what happened to his dad? Is he going to be able to clear his name?
