About this deal

Later that day, workmen dig up a long-dead woman in an entirely different part of the city. Though the cases initially seem unrelated, it doesn't take DS Roy Grace long to put the pieces together. I keep reading this series because of the continuing links with his former wife, his relationship with Cleo and with his friend Glen Branson, now promoted to Inspector. The story lines have some similarity which does sometimes distract from the series. Overall there is sufficient for me to say three to four stars on the Goodreads scale. It's not long before Niall is arrested on suspicion of Eden's murder – but it doesn't take DS Roy Grace long to figure out it's not what it seems.

As Grace investigates a nearby murder, he soon realises the man on trial is pure evil, and he'll stop at nothing to ensure his own freedom. Will he be able to stop the man before anyone else gets hurt? When a woman's body is found in a Brighton bath, DS Roy Grace is called to the scene. Though it initially seems pretty straightforward, a sudden turn of events reveals the case to be much more sinister and complicated than he could have imagined. Mr. Peter James is a master researcher and writer who hands out thrills, chills, and perfect plots. This novel just proves that James is all that and more! Host was adapted into a made for tv movie by the US Network in 1998. Dr. Joe Messenger, played by Peter Gallagher, gives into the seduction of a terminally ill woman. He later finds that she has uploaded herself into a computer. Now she threatens to destroy his family from beyond the grave. ITV made Prophecy into a feature in 1995. A Ouija Board, an archaeologist, and a widower with his son are all connected. On the same day a young woman disappears from the car park under her apartment building, leaving behind her mobile phone and her neatly parked car, workmen digging up a footpath unearth the remains of a woman in her early twenties who has been dead for more than twenty five years. I’m not sure where to start. Peter James is a bit of a Legend in my eyes. He is one of those authors that everybody knows; the man is most certainly one of my favourites. The one small problem I have, and have continued to have with the last few books is the ongoing storyline involving his missing wife Sandy. Now for people wanting to start the series from the beginning and haven’t yet got around to it, please don’t carry on reading my review because it will no doubt contain spoilers (this also applies to people who haven’t read the latest book as things mentioned in my review refer to those events, and I HATE a spoiler. Desperate to escape a bad marriage, Lorna Belling falls for another man she hopes will rescue her. Unfortunately, things don't work out according to plan. Peter James is a British best selling writer of fictional crime novels. He has written 25 novels that have been translated into over 35 languages. His series featuring Detective Superintendent Roy Grace have sold over 14 million copies world wide. He has had six UK Sunday Times #1 books consecutively due to this series. Peter James was born on August 22, 1948 in Brighton, Sussex, England. His mother Cornelia James was the Queen’s Glovemaker. If you're used to mysteries set in cosy English villages, gritty London, or the distinguished university cities of Oxford and Cambridge, Brighton may seem a very different sort of setting. It's a quirky coastal town about 50 miles south of London, and though it's quite distinctly British, it has a dash of San Francisco about it (or perhaps we should say San Francisco has a touch of Brighton).

The 11th Roy Grace novel is a very good, intriguing and gripping read for the most part. On one night a young woman is abducted and at the same time a decades old skeleton is unearthed. Is Roy correct in his hunches that the abduction and unearthed skeleton are linked? A lot of old faces are here in this tense read which really kept my interest to the end, wanting to know how it would all work out. My heart just went out to poor Norman, grieving for his fiancé Bella and working as hard as possible to try and keep himself busy. However, I have to say that I did realise who the culprit was pretty much as soon as he appeared and even what was going on behind the scenes, so to speak. If you read the book you will realise what I mean by that cryptic comment. On balance I would have liked to have been kept in the dark a bit longer and with an alternative suspect or two to keep my mind working. Brighton isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it's certainly unique – and by getting a taste of the city, you'll enhance your reading of the Roy Grace series.

Publication Order of Max Flynn Books

In the UK, the first two seasons aired on ITV. In the US, they found a home on BritBox. As of mid-2022, we know that a third season has been commissioned, with a likely (though unconfirmed) air date in early 2023. Meg Magellan's daughter is off on a gap year in South America, and she welcomes a stint on jury duty as a distraction. Unfortunately, she's assigned to the trial of a drug lord – and just a few days into the trial, she gets a call saying she needs to ensure a not guilty verdict if she ever wants to see her daughter again.

With the help of the police, she's able to remove him from her life – but he's obsessed and determined to destroy her and everything she ever loved. This is probably my least favourite Peter James book so far. In saying that it is still a good read, though I wasn't "gripped" by it as I have been by the others in the series. The book does finish on a bit of a cliffhanger, so is not the read for you if you prefer everything to be wrapped up in neat parcels. I have done nothing but think about this book ever since I finished it some two weeks ago. I have had a change of heart about Roy Grace, I now believe that the behaviour he exhibited was motivated by a desire to protect his wife, who was then in an emotionally fragile state. In his place, I am not sure I would have done anything different. I have upgraded my rating to 3 1/2 stars.Well, that was quite the ride; I'm exhausted. The Sandy-named elephant in the room has still to come to adequate conclusion, yet that aspect didn't hang like a pall over this book because the story was just so exciting. Far-fetched but very exciting. Something new though, there is definitely a cliff-hanger element to the end of the investigation so we all know there is to be at least one more book starring Grace. A woman has turned up in a coma in Amsterdam who may or may not be Roy's missing and legally declared dead first wife; At first, to Detective Superintendent Roy Grace and his team, these two events seem totally unconnected. But then another young woman in Brighton goes missing - and yet another body from the past surfaces. Brighton is a lively town with a thriving cultural scene that's much bigger than the city's size might suggest. You'll find loads of street art, and a vegetarian will have no trouble at all finding tons of food options (though in fairness, the UK is pretty veg-friendly as a whole). Brighton's crowded streets and beaches

Dead Man’s Time calls Roy Grace in once more. This time it’s for a burglary that has taken over a million pounds worth of loot. It has also left an elderly man who lives there dying. As Grace shows up on the scene, it’s clear that the family does not care so much about the valuables so much as one valuable in particular. They will do anything to get it. They don’t care about breaking the law and Grace is thrown into a hot pursuit that takes him through Europe and eventually all the way to New York. The readers of You Are Dead will learn about the devastation when loved ones go missing for those left behind. Also, the readers of You Are Dead will learn about living in Brighton. There is an element of violence, which is inevitable in a murder mystery but is just sufficient to keep the keenest fan reading on. This is a plus for a story that might otherwise have been a little dull. The scenes of Brighton and the surrounding areas are well described and many of the landscape features are just as they are described. Who were you? What happened to you? Who loved you? Who killed you? And why? Did they think they would get away with this? Are they still alive?"The dialogue unfortunately really got on my nerves, a lot of it seemed really corny and I couldn’t imagine it coming out of real people’s mouths. There is an endless succession of “My darlings” and on one occasion Roy’s wife Cleo managed to start a sentence with “My darling” and end it with “My love”. Yuk. I am also not at all sure why there were so many references to homicide and not murder in a UK book written by a UK author. Michael Harrison's friends decided it would be funny to bury him alive as a stag night prank. Unfortunately, they were killed in a car accident before they could retrieve him, leaving the man buried in an unknown location just days before his wedding. DS Roy Grace sets out to help his beautiful, distraught fiancee. That same afternoon, workmen digging up a park in another part of the city, unearth the remains of a woman in her early twenties, who has been dead for thirty years. Peter James breaks new ground in his bone-chilling “You Are Dead.” That’s because this 11th entry in the superb, Great Britain-based Detective Superintendent Roy Grace series ups the ante by adding a Jeffery Deaver/Thomas Harris element to his stalwart storytelling. The Roy Grace character is quite predictable as he has become well known to readers of the series to date. His former wife Sandy has been declared legally dead and he has married the attractive Cleo and they have a son Noah but is Sandy really dead? This conundrum spices up the story and coupled with the appearance of Assistant Chief Constable Cassian Pewe keeps the reader anxious about Roy’s future.
