About this deal

Pink: 7 reasons she deserves her Brit Award for outstanding achievement". BBC News. 2019-02-07 . Retrieved 2023-09-01. Despite the song's success (it charted in the top 10 in both the US and the UK), Pink told The L.A. Times, that she hated performing the song. "I wish I could burn that song and never sing it again," she said. I didn’t know much about Pink (Alecia Beth Moore), but I love biographies, so I was intrigued when I saw this ARC on NetGalley. I’m so glad I requested and was approved for an early review.

Between the beautiful photos, the quotes directly from Pink herself, and the inside scoop on the music origins, this is a must read for any fan of Pink’s music. The only thing that would have made this better would have been diving more into her personal life, but I don’t feel like that was the point of this account.

Track listing

She consistently out-sings her contemporaries with hit songs such as, "Get the Party Started," "Just Like a Pill," "So What," "What About Us," and "Beautiful Trauma," while her willingness to speak frankly about difficult topics has made her a relatable role model. She is an outspoken animal rights activist, and has been vocal about women's rights, LGBT rights, and her support of same-sex marriage. Pink Wants You To “Raise Your Glass” For The Underdogs In Her New Video Idolator Retrieved 2010-11-23 The lead single from Pink's first greatest hits album, Greatest Hits…So Far, 'Raise Your Glass' doesn't necessarily hold the dark emotional weight of some of the singer's previous songs, but that doesn't mean it's any less meaningful.

Away from the studio, Pink’s live shows are nothing short of phenomenal; her jaw-dropping acrobatics mark her out as a truly spectacular performer. Bookshelves: music, bio/memoir, kindle, 2023, anti-racist, education-teaching, feminism, netgalley, us-no-amer, women-centered I had been on the road for two years," Pink told Alex James on In:Demand about writing the song,"and I hadn't written anything and I just wanted to write a song about underdogs."So What” also happens to be a very good song, so that was probably also helpful to Pink. None of the other songs on Pink’s Funhouse album hit anywhere near as hard as “So What,” and it’s a little disorienting to be listening to Greatest Hits… So Far!!! when a non-hit like “I Don’t Believe You” pops up. (Like a lot of that era’s greatest-hits collections, Greatest Hits… So Far!!! is way too long. Pink would’ve absolutely crushed in the “10 song greatest-hits album that you buy on cassette at a gas station” days.) But Pink toured Funhouse hard, and she became a kind of pop-music road dog, an arena-sized act whose fortunes didn’t necessarily depend on arbitrary pop-chart placements or the vagaries of the album cycle. Like a lot of the album, Pink wanted to get into the nitty gritty of who she was a person. Sitting down with Dallas Austin, she decided she wanted to write a song that dealt with her youth. "I used to be on drugs, I should write a song about it," she said to the L.A. Times. "When you're young, you think your ideas are so clever."
