a b "Adele Parks: 'I think I am a really good writer' ". The Independent. 30 June 2012. Archived from the original on 2 July 2012 . Retrieved 23 November 2021. Adele Parks takes readers into the lives of both families as they try to reconcile the fact that Katherine and Olivia grew up in the wrong homes and must now determine how they will proceed as a family. But Lucy was a pretty wife like a princess. She was a hard worker. She was always busy for her jobs, similarly with Peter. She has no time for Auriol. Then there was Eva, household servant. Although, Lucy loved her daughter so much. Probably Lucy believe that Auriol got her pretty character, including taste of fashion. Over time she starts to have what she thinks are feelings for John and deep down inside she knows he is wrong for her but she gets desperate and things start to catch up with her and she makes mistakes. The person she never wants to find out about the affair finds out ……… what will the recriminations be? Will Connie come to her senses…. Also right under her eyes another forbidden coupling is going on….. Here we re-join the lives of Connie and her friends, Rose, Lucy and Daisy following on from their stories in Playing Away, set before Lie, Lies, Lies.

She decides to embark on an adulterous affair with a horridly smarmy and slimy guy from work and proceeds to throw caution to the wind. I felt completely awful for her poor, unknowing husband throughout. I was amused, touched, romanced, saddened and thrilled by the story from start to finish. Totally unputdownable!' Connie was pathetic and she was so annoying and stupid that i couldn't even enjoy her character growth, which was rushed compared to the rest of the story which seemed to crawl by. Wiseman, Andreas (16 November 2020). " 'The Princess Switch: Switched Again' Producers Ink Deal With UK Novelist Adele Parks For Movie Adaptations". Deadline . Retrieved 23 November 2021. Adele attributes her considerable visibility to her chatty persona. She is also fairly opinionated. As such, while many of her peers in the publishing arena would rather disappear behind a computer, Adele is out in public making her voice heard.

And when her boys begin to need her less, it becomes clear to Rose that Lucy’s life is devoid of real purpose or passion. Rose doesn’t have the vocabulary to describe Lucy, she doesn’t like using expletives. A devoted single mum, she fills her life with labeling school uniforms, organic vegetables and car runs for extracurricular activities. She’s an exemplary mother but the boys seem to need her less and less and without them she wonders what she amounts to. Her friends are concerned that her life is devoid of passion, romance or even plans for the future. In 2020, Parks entered a deal with MPCA and Engage Productions for cinematic adaptations of her books. [6] Spectacularly unsuitable and overwhelmingly sexy, he’s about to destroy her peace of mind and her happily ever after, yet she just can’t seem to resist.

Rose is quite happy with her role as a full time and very devoted mother to her twin boys when her best friend Connie and sister Daisy admit that they need to push her to want more. Uncomfortable at first Rose finds herself taking new and eventually exciting adventures. I'd decided before I was more than two chapters in to "Playing Away" that I hated it. I'm not sure quite what prompted me to keep going. Probably one part stubbornness and one part blind optimism that it might improve. It didn't. This is good stories. I was never getting bored. Because of late climax, I read this book slowly. Every chapters much with inner conflicts. The book urges us to find solutions for Rose's, Lucy's, and John's problems. I gave this book 3 stars for two reasons. 1. As much as I did not enjoy this book, I have to give it to Adele Parks. She writes impeccably. She is an extremely skilled writer, and her characterisation, flow of dialogue and thoughts, structure, and all of that was absolutely flawless. Sure, I did not like neither the book nor the storyline, but I appreciated her writing skills. And 2. It is not her fault I did not enjoy this story. She is a great writer, but I am simply the wrong target audience for this book. I am neither a wife, nor a mother, and this book seems to be targeted at both, and probably a wider bunch of females. I am not one of them, I did not relate to the situations, and I did not connect to the characters the way I'm sure others have. I am simply put, not the targeted audience for this book.

I passionately believe that reading is a basic right. I’m a proud Ambassador of The National Literacy Trust and a The Reading Agency, charities that are devoted to encouraging emerging adult readers and children who are becoming passionate about books. The Stranger in My Home’ is one of Adele Parks’ more popular novels. It tells the story of two girls who were switched at birth and the woman who must deal with the fallout. A man comes to Alison’s home and tells her that Katherine, her daughter, actually belongs to him. Lucy stole her friend Rose’s ‘happily ever after’ because she wanted Rose’s husband and Lucy always gets what she wants. Big mistake. Rose was the ideal wife and is the ideal mother; Lucy was the perfect mistress. Both Rose and Lucy would love nothing better than to embody Connie’s life. Connie isn’t just happily married. She also has two thriving kids even while pursuing a successful career. Three wives - Rose, who's husband Peter has left her for a new love - the self obsessed, materialistic, non-maternal Lucy and Connie, happily married, but who strayed early in her marriage.

While not my favourite of her books, and feeling a little predictable, I still found myself wanting more and to see what happened next. It was nice to find that Lies, Lies, Lies is effectively the third in this story following the same four friends and I found myself moving onto the second in the series (that isn’t written as a series in a conventional way!) and I moved directly onto Young Wives’ Tales!

However, Adele Parks takes offense with the idea that the term can be used broadly to describe all literary works written by women about women. Adele contends that women are very complex human beings and any book that aims to explore their lives, loves, and friendships should be treated with some respect. Parks was born in Teesside. She decided she wanted to be a writer at the age of 7 and studied English at the University of Leicester. Before becoming a novelist, Parks worked in advertising and management consultancy. [1] Her debut novel, Playing Away, was released in 2000. [2] Connie Green's life should be perfect. She's married to gentle, loving Luke, has a good job and really fabulous friends. She thinks she can't be happier. Luke and Connie’s close friends look up to their relationship and hope to find their own soul mates. When Connie starts an affair with John and tells her closest friend she is horrified that she would risk such a loving relationship, but Connie is completely hooked by John’s sex appeal.
